Title: Fox New's Red Eye Post by Iddy on Mar 24th, 2009 at 11:05am
What a piece of work this Greg Gutfeld is! He tries to be funny saying "Canadian Military wants to take a breather to do some yoga, paint landscapes, run on the beach in gorgeous white capri pants"
"Isn't this the perfect time to invade this rediculous country? They have no army" A panelist replied "I didn't even know they were in the war. I thought that's were you go when you don't want to fight. Go chill in Canada. I guess thatLL be their tourist selling point:We'er not in the war for a year. So come on by while we nap. A heartless display of ignorance. The is no fancy two step that should save these two from being chopped from their respective jobs. Toss them out on their butts and let find out how far their skills will take them in todays job market. I don't know if this Gutfeld puke was around when that fella Tillman from I believe the Arizona Cardinals left the NFL to serve his country and paid for it with his life.Would this not a very nice person try to make light of that! I wish I was better on this bloody thing so I could send a link to page A3 of today's Toronto Star. It's a picture of one of the wives of the last four Canadian to die in Afghanistan :'( >:( >:( |

I stopped watching Fox a while ago. Entertaining, flashy, upbeat, and about as reliable as the National Enquirer or The Tattler. Heavy on entertainment, fast and loose with the facts.
My apologies for the slam on your country. Joe |

Do you work for Fox? If not, you don't owe anyone an apology. |

Let me apologize, too.
I remember once when someone on my high school sports team displayed poor sportsmanship, and I apologized. Why? Because some things are bigger than the individual. The same is true for country. |

Fox News is a private enterprise, and they do not represent the United States of America.
But if you two are so guilt-ridden, who am I to prevent you from spreading salve over your wounds? ;) |

True, they do not legally represent anyone other than themselves. But as a mindless mainstream media conglomerate, Fox can also project an image of America that can overshadow the opinion of the typical citizen. Brew wrote on Mar 24th, 2009 at 11:42am:
Guilt? Nope. Just disagreement with the criticism of Canada. Thanking our allies for standing beside us (and falling beside us) is not about guilt at all. Doesn't matter if they fly a different flag - they are on our team. They deserve the same respect. |

Then it's a good damned thing you apologized, monty. You felt the need and you acted on it. Good on ya.
Iddy, I ain't apologizing for anything because I ain't responsible for this. Sorry it happened, sure. But not my fault. Maybe I can coax an apology out of monty for TARP II. ;) |

Well, lookie here - now there are multiple apologies:
From canada.com, Quote:
Looks to me like he's apologizing for being misunderstood - kind of a non-apology apology. |

All mainstream media is mindless. :P

Good enough. Apology accepted. 8-) Brew wrote on Mar 24th, 2009 at 12:43pm:
Maybe, if I can ever understand it. I lean towards the Krugman school of economics, and am not the biggest fan of the current policies, but think they are better than the conservative option (do nothing, obstruct anything, frame the debate for gain in the next election cycle, don't seriously consider other valid options). We'll know in a year or two if Bush's TARP and Obama's TARP II were good ideas or not. Obviously they have flaws, but will they work? |

Agreed with one exception: Charles Krauthammer. |
Title: Re: Fox New's Red Eye Post by Iddy on Mar 24th, 2009 at 7:31pm
Not having much knowledge of Mr Krauthammer's work I spent a little time reading some of his work.
Gotta say I'm impressed with his no bullshit approach. Simple respect. Krauthammer will call a spade a spade but a piece of shit like Gutfeld lacks the intelligence to ride in such lofty circles. As far as ain't getting no apology, Brew I never asked for one. I directed my feelings towards Gutfeld and his employers Fox. The apology that came from them, horseshit. To hack on people who felt the need to express an apology to a fellow country in arms is small. Would Krauthammer feel the same? |

Whoa, partner. You're reading way too much into this exchange. We all have a great deal of respect for each other, and it was, in our way, lighthearted. Not sure what Krauthammer would think. |

I'm guessing today's Get Fuzzy wouldn't be the best carton to post in this thread..... :D
