Title: Restricted? Post by Charlie on Mar 24th, 2009 at 11:17am
I'm still using a library computer so many this isn't a real problem but I'm getting several "assess restricted" icons that block me from completing some posts. My stuff is pretty vanilla so I don't get it. Some kind a password is asked but my CH one doesn't work.
Is this something new? I'm told that my puter will be out of the shop today or tomorrow but I'm not holding my breath. :-/ Charlie |

Hello Charlie!!! It's about time you popped in... I was beginning to think you didn't love us anymore.
and on a side note... if I had the resources... I would love to be able to send you a brand new computer. hurry back, with warm regards, Tony |

Thanks and on the other hand, I've read a couple of books, replaced a broken lock, rewired my dinningroom lights, patched up a big hole in the the sheetrock in the garage and done a lot of maintainence that only I know about but is very satisfying.
It's sumpin' I catch myself thinking of heading for my puter room to look up stuff or get in my 2 cents here and there, though. I'm still trying to remember WTF I used to do before the net. Charlie |

I wish my ass was restricted. Lately it seems to expand to wherever it chooses.
Seriously, if you can, send DJ a PM - I think it has to do with the proxy server being used by the library. I think he can add the address to the list and then you're good to go. |

Was thinking about you also, had a similar problem yesterday with proxy access denied. For me, downloading and accessing ch.com through Opera instead of AOL got me back on again.

This is the very same thing my computer is doing at my workplace. Although I do not log in to CH.com at work, I do view the board once in a while when we get slow.
I was sure it was head office that blocked me, but maybe not! Good to see you again Charlie [smiley=wave.gif] |

That's exactly what the problem is. Just shoot DJ a note, and he'll fix it for you. Good to see you back, Charlie. :) Best, George |

I hear ya Charlie - not about the restricted part, but about the not having access to the 'net.
My router got screwed up yesterday and I waited until Brew got home so he could fix what I couldn't. I got A LOT of stuff done yesterday afternoon with no internet access!! |

Until I get back on line, there isn't much point in coming here. Almost everything is now restricted. No doubt it's my silly library system.......although, they seem very liberal in most ways, here it looks like not. I'm blocked from even reading some posts.

The site has been acting a little weird at times recently......like the other nite I went to post and the POST button didnt work. It actually said WAIT in faint letters. I could preview the post, but it would not post.
We'll keep the light on for ya, Bro. :) |

What I get here is a little box sliding in on the right with a knight or something telling me that it's restricted and a place to click for the reason. I'm asked for my "password" which isn't my CH one, evidently, as it won't work. I can't even read some of the stuff and a lot of very ordinary posts are blocked, new or old.

Sounds like phishing to me.
You better change your password. Paul [smiley=smokin.gif] |
