Title: “Critics Criticize… “ YGBSM!
Post by Batch on Mar 24th, 2009 at 10:03pm
Monty…  He’s all yours…  Tonight’s campaign speech was not just a boring flop… It was embarrassing…

Too bad Obama ditched the old TOTUS in favor of the new supersized, gihugic TVTOTUS on steroids so he could stare glassy-eyed in the direction of the camera…  Had TOTUS remained in control… things could have been different…

I was particularly impressed with… “Critics Criticize… “   YGBSM!  The brilliance of that messianic nuance was earthshaking…

“People are cutting back… “  Aaaand…  “People are giving up a day’s pay so other’s can get paid…”

Meanwhile, Obama’s going to increase the National debt by $9.5 Trillion dollars over 10 years with his current spending legislation according to the Congressional Budget Office…

BUT!!!  Obama claims he will cut a $1 Trillion dollars out of the budget deficit in his fourth year in office…

Folks…  The National Debt is already climbing through $11,087,229,323,462  ($11 Trillion Dollars…)

The estimated population of the United States is 305,876,580
so each citizen's share of this debt is $36,112.81...  But only 150 million folks filed Federal Income Tax returns in 3007 2007...  That would be the number of people working...  For a family of three, that works out to over $165,000 as their share of the debt...

I was disappointed that he didn't make up words as he went along....
The cast and crew of SNL are truly facing very lean times with this president.

sad...

with warm regards,

Sheesh... as much as I enjoy the intelligent and articulate liberal retorts... all this political stuff makes me wonder why I bother checking in.  :-?

You are certainly welcome to your reaction, batch.  I wouldn't describe it as boring or a flop. I thought he developed a clear, reasonable vision and answered questions well. The wife commented on how refreshing it was to have a Presidential press conference where the president was articulate.

I think that most of the country agrees with me ... latest numbers I saw were between 50% and 64% approval, depending on which numbers you think were accurately sampled. And only 25-30% dissaproval, which isn't surprising at all given the polarization of the country.

And of course, you have already decided that the man is the marxist-muslim-noncitizen-socialist-Antichrist, so nothing he can say will strike you as honest or reasonable. Even when it is absolutely true and quite reasonable.

I wholeheartedly disagree!  Fred Armison has been hysterically accurate as Obama and last week's (rerun) lost nothing over time.

He’s still all yours Monty…

How anyone can justify Obama’s new math and fuzzy budget logic must take a very huge leap of faith…  I’m not the only one looking at the numbers…

“The AP focused on Obama's statement that in the budget, "we have made the tough choices necessary to cut our deficit in half by the end of my first term even under the most pessimistic estimates." In reality, "Not all credible estimates foresee a deficit halved in that time.”

In one exchange, Obama was asked about his budget, which breaks new records in deficit spending. The reporter quoted Obama from just last week when he said, "I didn't run for president to pass on our problems to the next generation." Well, that is EXACTLY what he is doing... in addition to raising taxes and imposing more big government on the American people now.  The reporter went on:

”But under your budget, the debt will increase $7 trillion over the next 10 years. The Congressional Budget Office says $9.3 trillion. And today on Capitol Hill, some Republicans called your budget, with all the spending on health care, education and environment, the most irresponsible budget in American history.

Isn't that kind of debt exactly what you were talking about when you said passing on our problems to the next generation?”

Well folks, the National Debt is already over $11 Trillion dollars and Obama’s own estimate will take it to $18 Trillion dollars over the next 10 years…  So he’s spending like a mad man, but only the party faithful see this increase in the National debt as necessary…  That's some attack on the debt...

And today our government printed another $300 Billion dollars so the Federal Reserve can buy back our own debt…  Hmmm….

Didn't the debt under Bush Jr go up about 6 trillion dollars?  That only took 8 years to increase by +100%.

The damn socialist.

Yup, spending is going to increase, and then will have to be brought back towards a sustainable level.  That is what an economic stimulus is about.  Balancing the budget and laying off teachers, firemen, police, clerks, members of the military, and volcano monitors is not a good idea at this time, when unemployment is 10%+ in so many areas, when consumers are cutting back on spending (which in turn leads to more unemployment and less spending, and so on).  A balanced budget now would be an anti-stimulus, a prescription for more contraction.

According to Ambrose Bierce, a balanced budget is something that modern Republicans want when they can't have it, and something they don't want when they can.

Yeah, I caught this the other day :o They can't be serious. "Enhanched interrogation techniques" has it beat though.

As for the deficit...at least Obama counts the two wars as part of the budget. Something new for us this century.

Yeah Batch... as the official 'non political entity' of the board, I would have to say that facts stand behind Republican administrations being the national debt drivers.

Reagan/Bush1 were there worst, but Ron used that cash to win the cold war, so we have something to show for it.
Bush1's short-bus riding son did leave us with the long term Iraq problem, which will likely saddle any future presidents with a $1 trillion problem.

The perfect president from a finance standpoint was Bill.  If I had to make a president from the DNA of past presidents, the whole finance-sense part of the brain would come from Clinton.  To think that back then a blowjob was front page news.  In hindsight we would have all paid for his whores if that was the critical issue of the day.

Jury is still out on Barack.  Between war debt and our governments penchant for saving failed businesses and his talk such as medical care for all, I think his debt chart will look like Ron's.

Yeah maybe Obama needs to be caught lying about drunk driving and lie about using cocaine.

Maybe Obama sign up for the military and needs to go AWOL doing posh "duty" while others get wounded in a war.

Maybe there needs to be a video of Obama drunk and being an a-hole to his constiuants on the internet.

And those were the GOOD, easy time with "W".

Maybe this president and this party won't legislate like the previous administration did in 2000 that actually allowed Wall Street to get exactly what it wanted, which is what directly led to the econmic situation we are in.

Maybe this country needs a boring President.

It is hilarious for any Bush apologist to call anything this guy has done as "Embarressing". At least Obama has not tried to put "food on his family".

I'll venture an uninformed guess.

According to the link you provided by the professionals:

It looks like Bush took the budget, in conservative figures, from a plus 2 to a minus 10.  By the estimate of the CBO, the upward swing looks to halve that figure in % of GDP.  Maybe that is what he is talking about???

Again people...tell me what you are going to do about the situation?

You will pull out of you driveway tomorrow, go to work and work and listen to the radio and bitch out loud about our collective fuckery.

Next Saturday morning, write you elected officials and tell them that you are either disgusted or tell them how much you like what a good job they are doing.

Get fucking busy!

The national debt is a joke. $11 trillion? WOW!!

Ya think they are gonna raise our taxes to pay it off? Ha!

Maybe if we collected on our loans to other countries, we wouldn't have to worry about it. I don't worry about it, I have enough to worry about. Do you really think our congressmen and representatives worry about it? I don't think it keeps them up at night.

I agree with you, Wrokk,

Clinton to N. Korea:

Quote:
"We have made it very clear that the North Koreans pursue this pathway at a cost and with consequences to the six-party talks, which we would like to see revived," Clinton said.

"We intend to raise this violation of the Security Council resolution, if it goes forward, in the U.N.," she said. "This provocative action in violation of the U.N. mandate will not go unnoticed and there will be consequences."

Oooooo, I'd be scared if I was them.  Wonder what the consequences would be to the six party talks, that don't exist, but we like to see revived?

Given the facts that they have nuclear weapons and enough conventional firepower to pulverize South Korea, no one is going to do anything drastic to North Korea.  North Korea, on the other hand, is in a box. If they want out of the box, they need to go back to the talks and start compromising and behave responsibly.

Funny you should mention this.  EJ's at the US Capitol today, meeting with our state's congressional delegation.  Long story--but it's to discuss cultural resource management issues.

I'd pass along everyone's concerns, but I doubt they'll have time to hash out a solution to the national debt as well.   ;)

Best,
