Probably the best boots in the world....just the names were humorous to me. That's all. ;)

For off the shelf boots I like "Danner Canadians" They seem to last me about ten years before I have to send them in for refurbishing.
I do only where them about 6 or 7 months a year though. |

Nice boots, they sure do look comfortable. You get what you pay for!!
I buy knock-off Reebok's, but they are nothing like the old one's! :( |

Johnny - Were those the very same boots you were wearing when we first met at Davenport? They look like it.

yes they are. i'm getting ready to retire them. they have been all over the country several times over in all kinds of weather. as bad as they look they still keep my feet dry and warm. i'm going about buying my boots like some people go about buying a car. theres a guy in columbus that carries that brand and he's willing to beat any competitor so i've been pricing theses on the internet. i've found them somewhere for $165 but here's what they look like new. Well, I, for one, am glad you found boots made here in the good US of A. Judging by the pic, it was due time. LOL

I still like the old Herman Survivors waterproof boot ad. Had a copy of it, but lost it. Otherwise I would scan it and post. It is a picture of an old prospector holding up a pair of beat up boots saying, "Seven years, and haven't taken a leak yet!"

I love having things that were made to last - it seems so rare in a world where lightbulbs seem to last a week before I have to change 'em again.
It's only a few weeks since I finally had to concede defeat (de feet?!) on a pair of boots I'd had since I was pregnant with Brid. They'd lasted me 15 years - this was their 16th winter.. not bad for a pair of ladies fashion ankle boots eh? I wore those day in and day out too. I'm going to miss them I also have my hair dryer still. I got it for Christmas when I was 12 years old and it might not be all singing all dancing like the ones you can get now but it gets the job done and it still works. I won't replace THAT until I have to either. It's over 30 years old, can you imagine buying an electrical small appliance today that'll last that well? I can't! |

i originally bought the boots at this place.
START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!! You need to ![]() ![]() they had the chippewa 25410 for $159.00. many places i called wanted $235.00 and up. they are a family owned and operated establishment that sells odd sized boots that didn't sell. i wear a 10.5 eee so it works out pretty good. even at $235.00 they are still cheaper that redwings which are now made in china. i looked at the white's boot and they are premium rebuildable boot. unfortunately they don't do internet orders and i have no idea when i'll be out in Spokane. i really glad that i'm not alone in my interest in quality handmade footwear. i do the same thing with everything i buy. chainsaw and auto part, tools, jeans, socks, ect. if everybody put this much time into buying amercan made products finding them would get easier over time. right now it's a pain in the ass but i'm sticking to my guns.
