That is a beauty, Potter!
It reminds me of some of the wood burning stoves that I saw over in Norway. The unique arc over the firebox is designed to extract more heat out of the escaping smoke. The same concept was used up in New England in the old one room school houses and many of the old churches. They would have the wood burning stove, in the rear of the main room, and the actual chimney was in the front of the room. They would run the smoke stack from the wood stove, all across the room, to the chimney, so that any heat at all, that was in the smoke, would be dissipated out into the room. Very smart, and efficient, in my mind! Enjoy that beauty! Chuck |

Beats me, they were produced from 1935/1985. 325 bucks is what I gave for it. Potter |

Oh...I love it!!!!!! Tis a beautiful thing to behold. Unless it is rusted and not workable, you got a great deal.
I have this soft spot in my heart for wood stoves. For 13 yrs. it was the only heat I had in a 2-story house. That beautiful black-iron baby was my life-line to not being frozen. Every year I looked for the best deal on cords of Oak and manzanita and when I had it in my wood-pile I knew I was safe from the ravages of winter. I even had a sign I made above the wood-pile from a poet that said... "Every man looks at his wood-pile with a sort of affection" Good on you Potter for buying that. Very unusual... with CHARACTER, just like you. ;) |

Linda likes it so much she posted twice ;D! It's purdy. Don't ahve much use for one down here, it'd probably run me out of my living room. We have a fireplace with an insert and I can't tell you the last time we used it.

So you are actually going to use it as the maker intended and don't plan on sending it to me to mosaic?

Title: Re: I bought it Post by ANNSIE on Apr 2nd, 2009 at 9:32pm Very nice ! Can you actually cook with it or just use it as a heater ? |
Title: Re: I bought it Post by Redd on Apr 2nd, 2009 at 9:43pm
There is a nice spot there in the arch where you can set a pan of water to humidify the room too. I see the circles where it's been done in the past.
Pretty and very functional. (Pegg who's apartment is alive with static all winter long and the cat has learned to avoid being petted in fear of a jolt to his nose.) |

ROTFLMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pat, you'd mosaic the front door while Bill was at work and when he got home he couldn't lift the door open. I would LOVE to see what you would do to Potters wood stove....omg...that is funny. |

Forget the front door. I warned both of them not to sit still for too long or I'll mosaic them! Nothing is safe around here (although I have been sticking to windows and panels lately). |

It's quite a neat thing!
It'd be more complete with a nice slightly chipped gray porcelain coffee pot.... ala "Gunsmoke" sitting on it though. 8-) Charlie |
