I fear that with the economy the way it is, things are bound to continue like this.
People are panicking. Many of the current unemployed have been out of work for over a year, and numbers of new unemployed is growing daily. I've exhausted my first 26 weeks of Unemployment, and I truly hope that there are no delays in getting the federal extensions. I'm not as far under as a lot of people, but as fast as jobs are disappearing, no new ones are taking their place. |

Scott,
The delays are with the states. My state offices themselves are understaffed and have been for over a year. There was the $25 increase in UEB effective 2-22-09. In my state, the changes to the computer systems took until 3-12 to impliment, and the retroactive weeks have not been computred nor sent out. Effectivly managing the extensions is in the hands of the state offices as well. I know NY had no delays, but we have had plenty of them. It's all at the state level. Obama isn't at fault for that. |
