Yesterday MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- Two minor earthquakes occurred in Central Georgia Saturday afternoon near Lake Sinclair.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the first quake happened at 4:45 p.m. carrying with it 3.1 magnitude. They placed the center about 7 miles north of Milledgeville, directly under Lake Sinclair. Ten minutes later and 7 miles further north, a magnitude 2.2 event was reported.

Viewers called up 11Alive's sister station WMAZ to report the earthquake. Some viewers even described hearing an explosion. There were no reports of injury or major damage, though one homeowner in Baldwin County said that the quake cracked the foundation of his home.

Lake Sinclair is located about 100 miles southeast of Atlanta. About 20 miles from me.

Last year we had a drought, hail storms, and tornadoes. This year we have had nothing but rain, snow, tornadoes  and now earthquakes. :o

It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine.

I'm glad I read this AFTER the kids called me to say they had landed safely in Chicago this morning.

Oh Elaine.....you know I love you dearly but I am laughing hard here.   A 3.1 earthquake?????   LOL

In California that's called a slight tremor.  

One thing is for certain.  I will never, ever, ever say to you that your life is boring Elaine. ;D

LOL!  E, dear! I am sooo with Linda on this one!! 3.1 is NOT an EQ! It's the gentle swaying of a baby in a cradle.........it's, it's.......welll, NOTHING!! When kids get knocked off their bicycles on the way to school, when ironing boards walk away from you-then return.that's an EQ!  When giant fissures open up in the ground, or an entire street is on fire, When glass showers around you as you run from downtown skyscrapers blowing out windows.....THAT'S  an EQ! When the plumbing gets ripped from your home, or the entire house jumps it's foundation.THAT's an EQ! When a neighborhood goes without water for 2 weeks, and takes water from the swimming pool to heat(after the gas is turned back on) and bathe with.THAT's an EQ! When you conduct business from UNDER your desk, 3 days AFTER the initial EQ_ well, that's called an aftershock.......
I could go on........but, suffice it to say, there's the kiddie rollercoaster ride.. then there's Colossus......talk to me when the EQ's get over 5.5...till then, I will agree with you.....it's odd that your neck of the woods would have these small temblors, and I'd even venture to say that you officially earned the t-shirt(4 seasons, riots, fires, floods and EQ's)......just barely!
After experiencing  4 or 5, while living in CA, I have to tell you, I am soo not afraid! I fear blizzards, tornadoes, fires, floods..anything I have NOT  yet survived!
But, that's just me!

i was raised in Arizona so i'm used to dust storms.
The cold rain, snow, and tornadoes here is more than enough for me... screw earthquakes!   :D

Kids said there wasn't even a word said about it.   First they knew of it was when I told them about this post.

   Until it gets to about a 5.0 it doesn't really count as an Earthquake. Thats when your glass ware starts to dance on your shelves. A 6.0 will really get your attention. Anything over that, yer allowed to panic, if its your first one. Just remember if you're near an ocean after it stops, head for the hills. Trust me on that one.
