I'm in the middle of reading a news story, when explorer tabs began to open up across the top of my screen.

Damn thing shuts down on it's own, then restarts...and goes into this error loop and refuses to boot up in any mode what-so-ever.

Safe mode....No

Last working configuration....No

Nothing...HELP!!!!!

I'm on the kids computer now and I have none of my needed sites or anything on this computer.

What might the issue be and just how much is this going to cost me to fix?  I can't be without my laptop and certanly can't afford a new one!

Do you get an error message or does it just stop? If you do get an error message, what does it say?

I'm guessing you don't have any recent back-ups. So, if it is the harddrive that's responsible for your troubles, make sure you pick someone who can recover your data if necessary.

Ok, so I taled to the Adam computer guru for one of the local LARGE car dealerships here.

He said he's seen this before and it's a pretty easy fix.  Said I shouldn't loose any of my data, AND he can come as soon as about 2:30 tomorrow afternoon.

Holy cow!!!!  And he said 50 bucks tops!!!! Thats pretty damn good. I think I can cover that.

A quick trick to try, first.  Unplug the computer, and remove the battery.  Let it sit for ten to fifteen minutes, and then put the battery back in, plug it in and fire that goober up.  It just MIGHT work!

     First thing is do you have Mcafee virus protection runnig on our computer?
     Second thing is did you download and install Internet Explorer 8.06.0
     If you did this is probably the problem,  the IE8 is not compatible with Mcafee yet and will cause all the problems to your system that you described.

     Start by unplugging the access to the internet, then uninstall the IE8 using the Add/Remove program featurei n the control panel.
      It will back you up to IE7.0and this should solve the problem, next use the online technitian in mcafee and  a tech will help you in a one on one chat until you have to system restored tothe previous working area where you downloaded IE8.o
      Its pretty straight forward and easy to follow their instructions.

Hiya John,

It is still IE7.0 and I run Avast on that machine.  I can't unplug from the internet, as it's an internal wireless connection, and I can't get anywhere to do anything in add remove programs because of the boot loop.  It just keeps trying and failing to boot itself.

I am trying to keep my hopes up that this Tech guy will be able to fix it today, and that I won't spend an arm and a leg on it in the process.
