Might be this, but I doubt it since doctors won't diagnose it unless it's been going on for like a month or more.
From Wikipedia: Pica is a medical disorder characterized by an appetite for substances largely non-nutritive (e.g., clay, coal, soil, feces, chalk, paper, soap, mucus, ash, gum etc.) or an abnormal appetite for some things that may be considered foods, such as food ingredients (e.g., flour, raw potato, raw rice, starch, ice cubes, salt, blood). In order for these actions to be considered pica, they must persist for more than one month at an age where eating such objects is considered developmentally inappropriate. The condition's name comes from the Latin word for magpie, a bird which is reputed to eat almost anything. |

Look at it this way, Mel. If Ava ever looses her liking for veggies, at least dog food is nutritious! ;D

Don't knock it, until you try it ... You might want to add a little salt to it though ...

When my daughter was 2, she was eating dog food. I asked her to stop, and she replied "It's delicious!" I caught her doing it again later that day, and she said "NO DADDY! It's so good!"
I don't know about charcoal, but I have been told dog food is wonderful. |
