Gorgeous!
My next bathroom sinks are going to be that type, I love them. Potter, those are wood sticks sitting in essential oils and they wick up the scent. (They have a name, but I forget) |

Very nice IMO - I would do 2 minor things differently:
1) the bottle of sticks on the right suggests a perfume diffuser, which would not be in my house. Aside from triggering, such oils and alcohols irritate me. 2) Plastic flowers. To quote a gay friend: "Plastic flowers are almost never fabulous!" In the end, it is about what works for you. |

Any guy can use a girly bathroom without it being a threat to his masculinity.
Just don't expect him to clean the undersides of that sink. I can hear it now: "Who in the HELL came up with this design?" ;D |

Cool. We keep incense in the shitter. Just guessin that when ya use some fancy essential oil it's a powder room. Potter |

Jackie, you have great taste. Your powder room is really lovely! Jeannie |

I was wondering if I was the only one thinking of that. When I clean, I don't want it to be long, involved, or difficult. THAT design may be pretty to look at (which it IS), but my first thought was: "What a pain in the ass to clean and keep clean ..." Lazy Cleaner Chuck |

Totally great Jackie, I love it!
I want one of those fancy art glass bowls and the faucet where the water comes out of the mirror. [smiley=grin2.gif] |

Jackie I love it and to keep the men happy just put a ping pong ball in the loo - keeps them happy for AGES and improves their aim too - useful for lazy cleaners like Chuckles! LOL
Which reminds me - you might want to "ASSk" Chuck to safety test the new seat.. LOL |

OMG - does he know me or what? My first thought was "take that bowl out of the sink so I can see the sink." ;) The artistic part of me says, "yes - it looks fabulous." The drudgery-have-to-clean-the-toothpaste-and-soap-scum-and-whiskers-off-the- bathroom-sink-every-day part of me says, "not in my house." Nice job Jacks. |
Title: Re: So I redid the... Post by Linda_Howell on Apr 10th, 2009 at 1:39pm
Silly me. As soon as I saw that, I was going to say don't let Pat see that. For sure she's going to want to mosaic it.
I love it Jackie. I don't understand however the concern about cleaning it. It's a guest bathroom. No one is going to be shaving or brushing their teeth in there. Just using the loo and washing their hands. Am I correct Jacks? |

WAIT! WAIT! I gotta go get my pic of my powder bath! We put in a vessel sink as well, and, guys, it is not as problem with cleaning! First off, as someone mentioned, it gets very little use, so, although dusting is required, I simply hit ours with glass cleaner and a lil wipey wipey dos the trick!
I soo wanted one of the art glass vessels.........but thought $1200 was a bit steep.........especially since our house is now for sale! Good looking, Jacks......congratulate yourself on a job well done! Cathi :D |

And why do they call it a powder room? Is there powder in there? Do people use powder anymore? If there is powder in there do you keep it dry? So many questions!

That's pretty! And all that sink will require is an occasional dusting and a wipe with a damp cloth.
We can't have incense/candles in the house. Sets my migraines off and *if* Jimbo's in cycle, affects him too. Jackie, if you ever need another job, you could always hire out doing remodels! |
Title: Re: So I redid the... Post by QnHeartMM on Apr 10th, 2009 at 5:22pm
I think it's fabulous Jackie! And I'm guessing since it's called the POWDER room, Blake and the boys know enough to STAY THE HELL OUT OF IT!

Title: Re: So I redid the... Post by Cathi_Pierce on Apr 10th, 2009 at 6:50pm
So, do ya notice similarities here?
No candles-the cats catch on fire No diffusers-they fall over and cats get soaked with stinky stuff Fragrance in brass ball on countertop-cats play with it, but can't break it open.. Nonetheless, Jacks, we have the same floorplan! ...nowigottagopotty.......... Cathi :D |

Chuck...didja see the guest towels on the counter? I rewash em each week and fold em up so I can leave em theree in case ya come to visit!
.....the linen ones are put away for important "peeples" Neener, neener, neener!! :D :P Cathi :D modified to add:Ya shoulda recognized em....they got P on em! LOL! |

Is that a stick shift on the far back right side?

Title: Re: So I redid the... Post by Cathi_Pierce on Apr 10th, 2009 at 7:48pm
Hmm...could be, but if it were I would NEVER get my son or husband outta there!
When we did this, vessel sinks were just getting started. That is actually a wet bar faucet I finally found on e-bay. we liked the vessel idea, but they were only available in very contemporary styles. I'm not contemporary...........the wet bar faucet had the height to clear the rim on the vessel. Cathi :D |

Don't really see a problem with the cleaning, my 3 ugly sisters have equipped me with the latest techniques in Ergonomic bathroom cleansing, Especially Inverted Tapering frutstrums of the porcelain and not the earthenware type.
Is it Twyfords or V&B English or German |
Title: Re: So I redid the... Post by Jackie on Apr 10th, 2009 at 10:21pm
Wow, Cathi....love it! I thought about converting an antique chest into a vanity but couldn't fit one it. Love your vanity!
Those sticks/straws are reeds.......reed diffusers put out a very mild, faint scent. Blake always gives them the sniff test to make sure they won't bother his head. Try 'em, Potter...you'll like 'em. I put in the vessel sink because Blake and the boys were peeing in the old one. I miscalculated the height...Blake being 6'4" can still hit the new one... >:( Monty...tell your friend that plastic flowers are not fabulous. What I used is artifical greenery and is perfectly acceptable if done properly.... ;) Cleaning is easier that the regular sinks so there ya go Chuckers. :D Bill...I recognize that powder room. We called it the chit house ;D Melly...check out Overstock.com. They have a bunch of glass vessel sinks with the fillers you mentioned. Delta, thanks.....I do some decorating for family and friends....it's fun spending other people's money... :) Thanks folks...Blake & I have gotten some good giggles out of this thread. |

Cathi, that's a cool faucet! BTW, you need like, a mosaic around your mirror or somethin. ;)
|
Title: Re: So I redid the... Post by Cathi_Pierce on Apr 11th, 2009 at 8:46am
Melly, If it were me, I'd paint around the mirror, but everything in the houe has been neutralized for sale.. it is soo flipping bori............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! And, Heaven forbid, you add some kinda accent like that..it may not be the buyers' taste, so they walk!
I DID order 2 of the vessels on Overstock last night! They have fish in em! |

Jackie and Cathi
Both rooms are gorgeous. We're re-doing our guest bathroom and bought a new sink/vanity unit. The vanity looks like a piece of furniture standing on claw feet, but the sink and top are granite and the sink is recessed. Can't wait to get it installed - but need to remove old wallpaper and re-paint first. Sandy |

Great taste as usual - tell Blake and the boys that's not a peein' sink for sure!! :P Love, Goofy |
