and I have the same memories as a child flying homemade kites with my Grandpa in the field next to his and my Grandma's house. :)

We haven't done kites for years, maybe a new thing to add to the list of new things to try.

Wow! Those kites fly so high! :)

Mine never did reach that high, oh no. Me and dad tried every trick in the book, but we never succeeded.

It was fun to try, though. :)

When I was young and living in Puerto Rico, I built my own with my brother's help, then we'd go to the beach, especially on a windy day, and he'd start it off for me by running at a specific pace - however he did it, it was always picked up by the wind, then I would fly it for a couple of hours. I even used to lie on the beach while still holding the kite and watch it for hours. It was so cool.

What a fun thing to do, Melly. I can remember flying kites with my Daddy. I'm thinking it would be a fun thing to do with my Grandsons.
