Title: Stress Test
Post by George on May 10th, 2009 at 10:59pm
Guess I figure if they can stress test a bank, I can do it to myself.

I should explain that I've entered into my CH "window".  Although I haven't been hit yet, I can feel the thing circling in the darkness just outside the firelight, so to speak.

Anyway...don't know if any of you are interested in wine, but I scored a half-dozen bottles of 2003 Bordeaux--a Margaux, no less--for a stupid-cheap price.  Long story.  Think Two-Buck Chuck, and you'll have some idea what I paid for it.  Weird.

Of course, a person has to try the stuff.  I opened a bottle last night, and EJ and I shared it.  It was wound pretty tight until it got some air, but after an hour, it was beautiful--with a bouquet that filled the room.  Wonderful stuff.

Went to bed, loaded with red-wine histamines, fully expecting to get nailed.  Got lucky.  It didn't happen.

I think it's best that I simply admire the other five bottles for the next eight weeks, however.   :P  No sense antagonizing the thing.

Best,

George

I'd say if you passed the Bordeaux test you're in the clear.

Good luck with the game of Russian Roulette.  You still have five shots left  ;D

I'm an absolute mister Ignoramus about wine, George, but I do enjoy the vast majority of Dutch and (especially) the Belgian beers.
However, once I'm in cycle I stay away from the stuff, would rather gnaw off my hand and feed it to my pets.

As I believe it is for many others here, alcohol is a major agitator of the swine. It is just not worth it.

I hope this coming cycle will prove to be a rather mild one, but if not, kick the Beast for me and all other will you?

You're in my thoughts. Pascal.

Yeah...probably a good call. While I no longer live in fear of the beast.....neither do I risk "flipping him off!" ;D Maybe he'll be gracious and just skip a cycle!

That explains me getting hit last night after a month without even a twinge.  DUH!!

Went to a very nice restaurant last night and, of course, I had to try all the wines the Sommelier had to sample.   :)  I said the hell with the beast and went ahead with a big glass of the red.  It was sooo good!

I didn't get hit until 4 hours later and never thought about the wine until I read this post.  I really miss red wine.  :(  Enjoy it while you can George.  I'm jealous.   ;)

Beth....what the hell was I thinking???

I love my wine, and love to go out and have a drink with my partner from time to time......I had a drink a month and a half ago and got hit (before I knew it was bad for the head and beast) and I haven't tried it since....my partner can't understand why I have told her repeatedly NO, NO, NO.....but after my one experience and after reading all of your tales about it.........I'm staying far, far away.

Sadly alcohol is an almost universal trigger for CH. On cycle I pine for my micro brew beers and my whisky's! :'(

Send the beers to my place, Joe, and I'll ensure they're recycled into the environment.
