Title: Have you ever...
Post by Lefty on May 14th, 2009 at 6:59pm
Misfueled...! Well today this Muppet did... :-[

OK, I'm an idiot..! But in my defence I used the garage that we always use to fill the buses and people carriers we use for work and these vehicles are all 4 star unleaded. There I was whistling away with not a care in the world, until I noticed the green hose instead of black diesel. I had already put €40 in before I got that horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that something wasn't right..!

So I'm €40 down before i even get the bill from the garage, luckily enough though i didn't start the car.. There must be more idiots out there, i can't be the only one in Clusterville.

I put a full tank of gas in my diesel last year.  And drove it.  Directly to the dealership.  Cost me $800, and I was lucky at that.

Moral of the story, don't do that.

I did that with unleaded in a diesel once.  85 gallon saddle tank. :-[  Fortunately we were able to siphon most of it out to where it would blend ok.  It just tended to preignite until I burnt off the tank of fuel.  The boss was not happy with me that day!

dont know what to say, every one makes mistakes, as the hedgehog said climbing off the hair brush, but that one is a killer. you could allways use the "sorry boss i took an K8 hit just as i got there and didn´t realise" probably not going to help but it might

not done anything like that, as im perfect, but i can understand how it could happen. Actually no i can´t but im trying. No sorry Lefty ive got to get this out

I think a large part of my $800 bill was the hazardous waste disposal fee for the gas they removed from my tank.  California is SO AWESOME.

I thought that the nozzle was a larger size for deisel to prevent misfueling.  Maybe it is a state to state thing.

But you can put the smaller nozzle into the larger hole.

And no, I don't speak from experience, Chuck.

Got it.  I was thinking diesel into gas.  That larger nozzel prevented me from misfueling once.  Not all gas stations around here have diesel.  Gotta pay attention.  ::)
