I don't think it's passed the House yet, but yes, it did pass the Senate.  I am pro right to carry, BUT, I'm not so sure this is a good idea.  Well, there is already one state that allows CC and has since 2006

OK first of all it's TEXAS ;D

Second- if you know that all the people around you were carrying a gun
would you whip one out and start shooting people.

I have never heard of a gun store being held up ::)

Not wishing to re-open a perennial debate that seems to have no resolution, and that seems to cause extreme reactions on all sides, but...Idaho has had a very liberal concealed carry law since 1990.  The crime associated with legally-carried firearms has been insignificant.  Virtually nil.

There have been many thousands of carry permits issued.  Thusfar, at least, there have been few if any problems associated with it.  It's a non-issue here.

Idaho AG's office link with an FAQ regarding the CCW laws:

In short, I don't find the Texas legislation particularly alarming.

I realize that many of the reactions people may have are cultural, and that those living in communities where weapons are heavily controlled may find this odd--but speaking as someone from a state where weapons are ubiquitous, accepted, and commonplace--I doubt that Texas universities will hereafter become a free-fire zone, and it wouldn't concern me at all to spend time there.   ;)

Best wishes,

George

It might even cause me to encourage my son to enroll at UT.

There's no safer playground than the one where everyone has bully capabilities.

Yup...! There's nothing like carrying an M-16 down your pants to sort out the bullies. :D Were pretty old school over here, the odd fist fight or two normally took care of the bullies....

When most are weak, the bullies take advantage. But the only way to stand up to a bully is to bully back.

It's a cowboy mentality, but it's the safest one out there.

Smart man, your son. Ya done raised him right.

The problem is that people don't get along. They never have, and they never will. It's part of the human condition. So the next best thing is being able to show a-holes that you're not going to take any of their $hit and become yet another victim.

It's pretty simple. And I know you know that. Wishing usually just gets you dead. Like my mammaw used to say, "You can wish in one hand and $hit in the other - see which one fills up first."

It's the TEXAS Senate, Svenn, not National. Texas isn't really part of the United States.....well only technically.  8-)

It's also College, not school kids. Nevertheless...and you know that I don't mind being around guns as I have posted.....It will likely cause more harm than good. Guns are not easy to use even in the best of instances for self-defense.  I know the wishful thinking about the Virginia massacre...hard to say...

It's seems a tad goofy to me.
