Title: My First Poem
Post by McGee on May 23rd, 2009 at 1:39am
This is my first poem since i left school so many years ago so please be nice to me LOL

The Lord of the Dance. (by McGee)

Its time to wake for the shadows call
I see them now so dark and tall
running down the nearest hill
laughing and shouting with joy and thrill.

The beast is coming i can hear his song
"come dance with me it will be hard and long"
"come on now you know it well"
"the dance of fire and a thousands hells"

But tonight im ready, i am prepared
the beast will not have the final word
as from the air i make my shield
and body armour that will not yield
and born of love a sword of might
as dance we do till morning light

As i push the shadows back into hell
the dance is over and i stood up well
as my wife comes in "you´ve been dancing again, I can tell"

I give her a smile and dry her eyes
as i tell her of the beast with his red hot scythe
"it was not so bad this dance of mine"
"for the Lord of the Dance was I"

i hope you like it
Mark (poet and all together a good egg)

For the sake of a bit of re-phrasing, it could easily be sung to "Lord of the Dance" by Sidney Carter.

Good job, mate, and well done. Specially the bit about you winning!
