Not being a fishing person - I've never heard of those. They're huge - and frankly - not real pretty. Can you eat them?
Who's the little cutie in the picture? Carol |

Geez!!! I'm not danglin' my feet in that river!
Never heard of 'em either. Are they good eating? I'm sure I'd have heart failure if I ever caught one of those. (edited to add: I did a small search on them and find that I am in no danger of inadvertently catching one on my 6 pound test. . . . They are filter feeders and can be caught by snagging (big treble hooks) or by spearing, or bow and arrow. So how were these caught?) |

WOW! Time for a major fish fry! That's the finest eating catfish there is. On the rare occasion, we will raise a paddlefish (aka spoonbill catfish) from the Mississippi River here but I've never seen so many at one time. Woohoo! Enjoy the Lord's bounty.

Shucks, I should have known that was what we called a *spoonbill catfish*!
There are some huge/monster catfish that inhabit the MS river, especially around the locks and dams. "The world record Arkansas blue catfish weighed in at 124 pounds and was pulled out of the Mississippi River." |

Yikes! I fished since I was 3....had some help...and these beautiful things are new to me. They're so ugly that it's a wonder they reproduce. Nice pictures and geeze they're big.

Geez, those are huge fish!. I've never heard of a paddlefish before.
But, like to fish, unfortunately I don't get to do it often. I'll bet it was a blast pulling in those big suckers! Sandy |

Geez, they look prehistoric. After they're snagged, how do you kill it, or do you have to wrassle it first? :)
