Wow.... Just wow.

What is wrong with people?

Jeannie

ETA:  Why would someone do this?  To be funny?  To introduce children to drugs?  I don't understand the motive behind it.

Nothing in the article suggested that they were selling to little kids or to people who had no idea what was in the baked goods - it may have simply been a cover to let them deal in plain sight.  I doubt they were selling $25 of weed for $1 ... not much of a business model there.

Don't worry, Joe.  I'm sure you'll be in business for a long time.

I guess I assumed that they were giving these "laced treats" to children.   After reading it again, I see that your explanation may be more accurate.    Thank goodness.

Quote:
an anonymous tip led officers to the booth

"a select group got to go into the trailer."

Would seem like a quick investigation and police may have been likely unable to make a buy but something of evidence to consider got the warrant I'd assume.  The defense lawyer will then have to contend with a John Doe on the witness list, a cautious contention.  The scenario of operation doesn't appear to be a good deal opportunity, distribution being the heavy.
The trailer loss seems civil, a separate case, not being their biggest worry and most likely not taken up, (especially seeing it after a full search  ::) )but if attempted, the combined fight an EXPENSIVE defense.
$50,000 bond seems to mean business from the get go, with doubtful release on recognition as not local residents, a decision unliked by the judge considering taxpayer's housing costs.  All guessing but real stupid.  Not a problem anyone with a sane mind would want to fuck with the law and handle.  No use asking WTF were they thinking, even other drug inmates might gossip, "Ya gotta hear this one."

Thanks Joe, stay employed.  ;)

And yet it reminds me of another laugher back in the early 90's.

Cops infiltrated a scene, the big drug dealer gets married inviting all the local hoodlum who come to the hall flashing their radiant importance, gifts of drugs, whatnot.
The hired band was called SPOC, cops spelled backwards, who, well aided from within and without rounded up the whole shabangy at the partying highlight.  If only I could remember the ironic, predicting song they last played to key it off.

I think if that story is still told to new recruits to the squad, I can just see their wide-eyed eye rolls listening.

Ridiculous
