Title: Ok kids - send in the vibes.... Post by BarbaraD on Jun 30th, 2009 at 7:17am
I'm off to the doc this morning to see about my broken nose...
I've been putting this off for a couple of years, but now that I've got insurance it's time to take a deep breath and get 'r done. Seems I've got a broken bone in my poor old nose and it needs a little fixin' -- He told me this a few years back, but it's painful and you know how I HATE pain, so ..... but it's gotten to the point I can't breathe too good now (on the CH side), so I broke down and made an appt and we'll see what he's gonna do. This guy is young (cute buns). He the ENT who took out Caleb's tonsils and I like him well enough -- (he gives green lollipops), so I'll be ok - it's just the thought of it. don't know when he'll schedule the thingy, but I plan to stay in bed and eat bon bons for two weeks (at least) and moan and groan... (sounds like a plan to me :)). Anyhow that's my big news for today... Yall have a good one now ya hear.... Hugs BD :-* |

Don't let him talk you into wearing a carrot. A Barb that doesn't have her nose out of joint sounds nice.
Hugs and nosy Eskimo kiss. |

Saw the doc - He promised me green lollipops and a "feel" (told ya he's real laid back). They're setting it up and are gonna call me as to the date.
The man actually told me he was glad I finally got to Oz and got to see the wizard and got some "courage" (think he was calling me a scarecrow!), so now we can get this over with! ;D ;D I did ask him if he could color coordianate the packing for my nose to match my eyes :) for the days after the surgery. He told the nurse to check on bloodshot and black - she lost it on that one. I swear, he's really a good doctor (I let him operate on my grandchild!!!). But we did have a "serious" discussion on the putting to sleep part and "what if" it triggers a CH and all that. He knows more about O2 therapy than he learned in med school now. If I get hit waking up. I gave him "orders" to have O2 available or I was bringing my own setup! Guess my biggest worry right now - the surgery is painful, but, as ya'll know, painkillers are a no no (at least for me), so ... well, I can take a pain pill occasionally (not for CH, but for other pain) but can't take the second one or it'll trigger a CH. So I guess I'd best get a supply of lollipops and bon bons... :) PS - Did I mention - I'm a TERRIBLE patient!!!! ::) Hugs BD :-* |

Barb,
I hate to give you bad news, but they don't use *packing* any more. It's more akin to a *tampon* that they stick up your nose (and yes, you do have strings hanging out of your nose). You will probably want to spend at least the first week (possibly two) sleeping in a recliner, helps keep down swelling and bruising. Talk to Sarah if she makes it to convention, she's had 3 nose surgeries (her doc was Dr. Fred Stucker at LSU and he's considered one of the top surgeons in the nation, his specialty is maxio-facial surgery {he actually refused to operate on Michael Jackson} and Sarah is now in JAMA, pictures and all, as hers was one of the worst cases he had seen in 40 years of practice). If there is anything that you can take for pain, I would suggest that you give it a go. |

OMG Carolyn - the mental picture you just gave me of tampons hanging out my nose!!!! ;D ;D ::) ::) Strings and all --
Now I have to go clean my computer screen.... I just spit coffee all over it.... ;D ;D ;D I'm going to go lie down now.... :o Hugs BD :-* |

Gee, I looked all around, and in some of my favorite hiding places, and I just can't find any vibes ... I guess you will just have to suffer ... (heehee) ...
BUT, while the surgeon is there, and has you on the table, maybe he could remove your tongue? THEN I would not have to listen to you anymore ... ;D [smiley=crackup.gif] [smiley=moonwiggle.gif] [smiley=winkkiss.gif] Well, I CAN dream, can't I? Chuck |

Thanks Chuckles - I needed that.. I think I'll get him to SHARPEN it - just for you!!!! ;)
The date is set - the 13th (Friday the 13th comes on Monday this month!) He assures me I'll be able to fly by the 22nd (the day I leave for St Louis) with no bad problems. So I guess I'll only have a WEEK of pain and suffering (damn, and I was counting on two weeks of giving my family hell!). But I should arrive in St. Louis breathing anyhow. Chuckles - you just wait -- I'm gonna GET you GOOD!!! Hugs BD :-* |

Barb,
I will give you BIG VIBES when I see you In St Louis and can give you a hug in person. In the meantime, don't sweat the rhinoplasty. Plus when it has healed you will most likely feel a nice nice benefit from it. Vibes in advance, you get the rest in St Louie (unlike Chuck who, when he says 'vibe' he means 'grope'.) Oops Chuck. Just kidding. :::runs. Ducks. Hides::: |

Charlie, if I have trouble with the plane - I can always use my broom!!!
And Carl, I'm waiting on that hug and don't worry about Chuck groping - I'll be there to do the "bun testing" - he's a lightweight in that dept - I'm still the MASTER!!!! ;) Hugs BD :-* |
