How do you get the "rubber" smell and taste out of the hose? It turns my stomach for some reason.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Keep using it. It'll go away.

I guess it's a matter of what's worse - an untreated K10 or a turned stomach.

Depending upon which kit you are using, it is most often the reservoir bag producing the rubber smell. Wash it with very mild, diluted soap and water, then dry it completely. Keep in mind that the O2 is extremely dry and will help dry the bag also.

The tubing is vinyl on a standard kit and emits almost no odor. Demand type systems often use heavy rubber hoses, but no bag, so no appreciable smell.

The 3 Liter bags are available in rubber and latex versions if you want to change:  START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE

I'm with Brew. For me, the results far outweigh the stink. (I realize that some folks are irritated by it more than others)

My guess is Marc is right, it's the bags. I us a demand set up and even brand new I didn't get any rubber smell from the hosing. Good luck!

If it is an honest question there is no stupid question!

However, you may get some stupid answers! :D

I have a very sensitive smell and I got kit from Sea Long as Marc suggested and I honestly did not notice any rubber smell.  I had been using Opti Mask and cannot remember about it. I also have a Demand Value from Life Gas and I don't notice any smell, however it could be when I first used it I was getting high kip hits and smell was least of my concerns and by now the smell may have dissipated.  However, unless the smell is so bad it is causing you to be more restless which could even increase your CO2 levels and defeat the purpose of the O2 try and stick with the O2 and before stopping by all means change kits and I personally highly recommend the Sea Long and if you call be sure and tell them you suffer from CH, they are very nice.
