Of course Obama actually added the war cost to the debt, unlike Bush that always hid it by not counting it. Big difference.

Yeah, all this spending is Bush's fault.
I think that rash you have is also Bush's fault. |

At first, people believed whatever Obama told them just because it was he who said it. In greater numbers they are believing less and less, and his approval rating continues on a decline. Eventually it will be less than 50% (I believe it's around 55% right now). Waiting to see what happens once that is the case.

I think you are right, batch ... Obama has had 6 months, and he hasn't fixed the entire economy or put Humpty Dumpty together again. Time is up - it says so in the Constitution!

Monty,
As I've said many times... I do my own analysis... and I frequently beat Rush to the punch. Bend Over Here It Comes Again (BOHICA) is far from a political slogan... It's a genuine caution I freely offer... You can take it or leave it... Your choice... Here is another example of redistribution of wealth from the Crap on Trade Carbon Tax legislation that's essentially a welfare bill your beloved idiots in the politburo passed without reading. The “Energy Refund Program for Low-Income Consumers” provision of this awful legislation clearly shows the idiots in the politburo embrace the same ideology as the Marxist trained community organizer who’s steeped in Antisemitism and liberation theology… a.k.a. Apologist in Chief... With the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) statistics indicating nearly five million subsidized households across the US that would qualify under this provision as they have gross incomes that do not exceed 150% of the poverty line, you’re going to start paying an additional tax to pay the $500 per family called for in this provision. When you add in the full amount needed to fully fund Project-Based Section 8 in FY 2009 at $9.8 billion in subsidies that you’re already paying for each family that qualifies for section 8 housing according to the GAO, your tax liability for this redistribution of wealth entitlement will climb to $12.3 Billion dollars a year the day the Crap on Trade Carbon Tax becomes public law no matter if the idiots in the politburo make a dime trading frozen flatulence… HR 2454 1 SEC. 432. ENERGY REFUND PROGRAM FOR LOW-INCOME 2 CONSUMERS. 3 (a) ENERGY REFUND PROGRAM.— 4 (1) The Administrator of the Environmental 5 Protection Agency, or the agency designated by the 6 Administrator shall formulate and administer the 7 ‘‘Energy Refund Program’’. 8 (2) At the request of the State agency, eligible 9 low-income households within the State shall receive 10 a monthly cash energy refund equal to the estimated 11 loss in purchasing power resulting from this Act. 12 (b) ELIGIBILITY.— 13 (1) ELIGIBLE HOUSEHOLDS.—Participation in 14 the Energy Refund Program shall be limited to a 15 household that— 16 (A) the State agency determines to be participating 17 in (i) the Supplemental Nutrition Asistance 18 Program authorized by the Food and 19 Nutrition Act of 2008 (7 U.S.C. 2011 et seq.); 20 (ii) the Food Distribution Program on Indian 21 Reservations authorized by section 4(b) of such 22 Act (7 U.S.C. 2013(b)); or (iii) the program for 23 nutrition assistance in Puerto Rico or American 24 Samoa under section 19 of the such Act (7 25 U.S.C. 2028); 973 HR 2454 1 (B) has gross income that does not exceed 2 150 percent of the poverty line; or 3 (C) consists of a single individual or a married 4 couple and (i) receives the subsidy described 5 in section 1860D–14 of the Social Security Act 6 (42 U.S.C. 1395w–114); or (ii)(I) participates in 7 the program under section XVIII of the Social 8 Security Act; and (II) meets the income requirements 9 described in section 1860D–14(a)(1) or 10 (a)(2) of such Act (42 U.S.C. 1395w–114(a)(1) 11 or (a)(2)). 12 (2) STREAMLINED ELIGIBILITY FOR CERTAIN 13 BENEFICIARIES.—The Administrator, in consultation 14 with the Secretary of Health and Human Services, 15 the Commissioner of Social Security, the Railroad 16 Retirement Board, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, 17 and the State agencies shall develop procedures to ensure 18 that low-income beneficiaries of the benefit programs 19 they administer receive the energy refund for 20 which they are eligible. 21 (3) LIMITATION.—Notwithstanding any provision 22 of law, the Administrator shall establish procedures 23 to ensure that individuals that qualify for the 24 refund under paragraph (1)(B) and that do not participate 25 in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance 974 HR 2454 1 Program are United States citizens, United States 2 nationals, or individuals lawfully residing in the 3 United States. 4 (4) NATIONAL STANDARDS.—The Administrator 5 shall establish uniform national standards of eligibility 6 in accordance with the provisions of this section. 7 No State agency shall impose any other standard 8 or requirement as a condition of eligibility or refund 9 receipt under the program. Assistance in the Energy 10 Refund Program shall be furnished promptly to 11 all eligible households who make application for such 12 participation. 13 (c) MONTHLY ENERGY REFUND AMOUNT.— 14 (1) MONTHLY ENERGY REFUND.—The monthly 15 refund under this subsection for households of 1, 2, 3, 16 4, and 5 or more members shall be equal to the maximum 17 energy tax credit amount calculated under section 18 36B(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 19 for each household size, divided by 12 and rounded to 20 the nearest whole dollar amount. 21 (2) MONTHLY ELIGIBILITY.—A household shall 22 not be eligible for the refund under this section for 23 months that the household has not established eligibility 24 under subsection (b). 25 (d) DELIVERY MECHANISM.— 975 HR 2454 1 (1) Subject to standards and an implementation 2 schedule set by the Administrator, the energy refund 3 shall be provided in monthly installments via— 4 (A) direct deposit into the eligible house 5 hold’s designated bank account; 6 (B) the State’s electronic benefit transfer 7 system; or 8 (C) another Federal or State mechanism, if 9 such a mechanism is approved by the Administrato.r . 976 And how about that Sara Palin… She took a page right out of the social progressive play book and announced she would step down as Governor of Alaska on a Friday while all the politburo idiots in the House and Senate are out on high priced junkets flying around the world at taxpayer expense… The few remaining idiot pundits in the lame stream media still in town are still sputtering with tired old bromides that Sarah is all washed up and no longer a contender for the White House in 2012… Wait until they realize it’s not blood in the water they smell but their own flatulence and soiled depends when they find there’s a barracuda on the loose as a private citizen commanding handsome speaking fees to elect folks to office with common sense… Take care… and have a wonderful Independence Day celebration… Oh yes… if you still want to believe all the lies put out by the chosen one, the politburo, and the state sponsored media… spread’em wide and BOHICA… V/R, Batch |

Pete, as I said in another post, I have trouble understanding the actual meaning of the written law.
Let me ask...we work for a living, try to save as much as we can for the day we retire. We try to invest the money wisely as a hedge against inflation. We pay into FICA, Medicare, State and Federal Income Tax with every paycheck. We have Life Insurance policies and I pay for my health care through my work and my wife has a separate health policy paid for every month by us. We have 401K accounts, savings accounts and an annuity. Every bill we receive is littered with additional taxes. We pay sales taxes, cigarette taxes, gas taxes...on and on. Our house note, car note and credit cards are paid on time and our credit rating is above 800. Tell me Pete, are we entitled to any of the money contained within this legislation? Do you see any proposed legislation aimed at helping citizens like us? Our air conditioner finally died and was replaced on Wednesday and I was wondering if I could send a copy to the President for reimbursement. Kindly advise. Steve G |

Steve,
Try as I must... I see no relief for any of us real taxpayers at the hands of the politburo or the Apologist in Chief. Our only recourse on the eve of Independence Day is to look for good folks with common sense who know how to balance a budget and who will remember who they work for if elected, then vote for them... The alternative is Dependence Day... And Monty, true to form, I see you're using the latest tweets from Huff-Po... and sticking with the Social-Progressive Liberal Check List of Politically Correct Phraseology and Tactics as well... My syntax was obviously clear enough for you to take the bait... Fishing for social-progressive liberals is a great sport... and there's no Federal or State license required either... What a hoot! At least you're consistent and predictable... I like that in an opponent. I take it you missed "Only dead fish go with the flow..." I'd loved to have watched Rohm when he caught wind of that one... I neglected to post the following table that shows how much more tax you'll pay for the redistribution of wealth under the “Energy Refund Program for Low-Income Consumers” provision of the Crap on Trade Carbon Tax if it passes into public law... You need to ![]() ![]() Even if you don't use obamamath... multiply these figures by 1.5 to see how many folks will qualify for this provision... Please, do feel patriotic if you pay even more taxes for these folks... and if you believe the Apologist in Chief has your best interests at heart, you deserve to pay more in taxes, so add a little more for Steve and the rest of us... Al Gore will love you. Take care and relax... Cause... START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!! You need to ![]() ![]() V/R, Batch |

With the momentum of the spiraling downturn back in December and January during administration change, at that time I don't think there was a group, survey or even an individual economist that predicted any upturn by the end of first half 2009. It's not hard to find sources that tell us where this momemtum has taken us and point to them. A predicted upturn by 2010 with perhaps the U.S. leading the way may have been the best we can do from the outlook back in December and January. Things being predictably deep now has been pretty much in the cards to be played out. As for Ms. Palin, I'm going on 55 and I'll race her in the parking lot anyday. 8-) |

You're right, tons of taxes here, just as in every civilized country. Here, though until the 1930s, the upper 10% didn't have much to worry about.......just as today. About 30 years ago, a bunch of fun-loving far right Republicans under the sainted Ronald Reagan, saw that they could really chip away at the New Deal. They managed to convince themselves that all federal regulation was evil so let Wall Street take over everything just like the 1920s. Well it worked just fine too..... Here we are again. There wasn't a hint of social responsibility. The level of greed was stunning. Even Noblesse Oblige a thing of the past. It was boot strap pulling time even for those with no boots.
The days of progressive income taxes in those oft longed-for days of the 1950s (Some of these taxes hit 90% but with creative deductions and loopholes things worked out well and all this under a Republican President) were the most prosperous time in American history. It was also a time when if you went to war it was a shared experience by the whole country. In the 21st Century, wars are started so long as the starters won't have to contribute. For an instant, in 2001, the entire country was behind George Bush. Then he told the rest of our allies to go to hell, told us to go out and shop, keep things humming along and not to worry about any conflicts. Just tune in and watch things unfold in Iraq on FOX news and enjoy the tax cut. After tuning in for the last 8 years, I'm ready for Obama's Politboro over George Bush and bunker-dwelling Dick Cheney anytime. Some fairness, not redistribution is what is needed but even fairness is Marxist to you Batch. As for Sarah Palin, I'm very disappointed. Running against her was the Democrats wet dream. I was looking forward to her debate with Barack Obama. The Republicans are dodging a bullet here. She has all the depth of a paper towel........maybe not here though. She stands to make millions on her book deal. Something like this is good for sales and she can make $100,000 a speech. Sarah will be doing just fine but there are some rumors of criminal investigation around Juneau. If they ever bury Michael Jackson, we may learn about it. Charlie |

Thanks Pete.
When I was a young boy I never saw nor could ever have predicted the current circumstances in which I now live in. I was rebellious and on the wrong track. I was fearful of my future, angry and wondered if I would ever make it. I often wondered why some had so much and others seemed to have so little. I was a Liberal. But through hard work and dedication to my chosen profession I now have carved out a life that I am happy to say is of my own making. I have a habit of walking a trail in the back of our land where I contemplate the blessings that have been manifested in my life. As I walk back to the house I am often caught (by my wife) shaking my head in utter amazement. How did I get here I ask? She always answers; through hard work, drive, determination and the pursuit of happiness. Now, more than ever, we are faced with a Government that apparently feels that I have enough and that they feel compelled to take what they feel are the excess of my efforts and bestow it upon the growing masses of citizens and non-citizens who they feel need it. Fine. But what has this benevolent concept wrought? How much has been lifted from the working citizenry since the implementation of The Great Society? Did it meet with its intended goals? Or, has it created a generational governmental dependent society that feels no compunction to take advantage of the generous helping hand? The results seem clear to me but then again...now I am a Conservative. I no longer have a heart. Contrary to what Liberals may think of my journey toward a Conservative bent, I still retain some vestiges of my former Liberal "feelings". The two problems I have with the Governmental notion of helping others is as follows: 1. Government spends other peoples money and therefore has no need to worry about how much. If they need more they will just tax more. And at the same time telling you that you wont see any additional taxes. 2. Government is creating an ever larger dependent society that will ultimately keep it in the position of power and control. Shamefully all this under the guise of a noble cause. John Adams once said, "Facts are stubborn things". It appears to me to be all just a big lie. They all lie. And that's a fact. I'm off to fasten the flag to the mail box. I hope I'm not breaking any flag protocol and if I have written a run on sentence, please forgive me. Happy Independence Day. Steve G |

That sign fits right in with most everything George Bush said or created. Even welfare....His security state economy was good for his pals, not the Joe Sixpacks who are stuck without jobs now. The level of spending and unbelieveable waste was unprecedented. The GOP's electoral nightmares are his creation.

I am not one who does not believe in helping those who need a helping hand. My charitable giving percentage far exceeds ANY of the Democratic and most of the Republican politicians as revealed by their financial statements. My problem is their generosity with MY money.
I know there is poverty and need out there. I have lived it. However, as Steve said, through hard work I have been able to make it. I have refused to accept government payouts or assistance other than Public Aid for medical for a few years. I HATED that, and the care was spotty at best. I don't have much, but what I have is mine, and within the next year, other than my home, I will have gotten myself out of debt following a business failure ten years ago. My observation after 5 yrs of doing housing rehabilitation has been that I have only been in ONE subsidized house that did not have a big screen TV (she was an handicapped older lady who actually needed the help). Most also drove vehicles that I could not afford, wore designer jeans, etc. My experience has been that those who receive the handouts rarely were really in need, but our government's generosity with MY money made it possible for them to live on a much higher level than I can afford. What they cannot afford is the satisfaction that I have with the life that I have made for myself. If I had to live like they do I would have to remove all mirrors from my home as I could not face myself. JMHO Jerry |

Personally I have a job right now because of the stimulus bill. When the economy crashed all projects were put on hold, but they restarted this spring.
That being said, there seems to be no new projects in the future. As the economy continues to decline no one is hoping for more federal money to keep future projects from losing funding. That means it looks like years of no work for me when the current job I am on is done. Paul |
