Title: WOW, am I beat
Post by Bob Greenwood on Jul 15th, 2009 at 2:18pm
I was fine and feeling great UNTIL I got a CH. I hit off the O2 and 20 minutes later it was gone. But now I feel like I ran 10 miles. I'm ready for bed and it's only 2:20.
I am drinking a cup of coffee, but something tells me it's not gonna be enough.
Do any of you get really tired after an attack? Or is it just me?

Yes, I feel like that from time to time. Try a 20-minute nap (not enough time for the REM hit to come), then a nice strong cup of joe. Even if you don't sleep, it's kinda nice to close your eyes and rest a little.

Listen to me - I sound like I'm a hundred.

Normally if I can abort an attack with 02, I don't get the exhausted feeling like that. Glad the 02 is working for you!

Brew, for some reason if I lay down and relax I get a CH. I almost dread going to bed at night because I know I'm gonna get one as soon as I'm relaxed.

Guiseppi, The O2 works great. I'm glad I have it. I guess I can't have my cake and eat it too. I'd rather be tired than have to deal a full blown CH. ;)

Sux, dude.

I have judged my preventative regimen by whether or not it will get me 6-7 hours of sleep per night. I'm on the right combo now, I guess.

As for the beat up feeling after a hit, I don't know what to tell you other than grab some caffeine and keep pushin' on.

I hear ya, I'm pushin :D
The last few weeks it wasn't so bad cause I was getting all my attacks at night, but now my cycle is reminding me how unpredictable they can be. I'm getting them at all times of the day.

I'm not on O2 at this time, but I know the feeling the CH leaves afterward.  I think it is because we put so much into fighting it that we are exhausted after.  Anytime I have a K7 or higher I'm wiped for a while.

I work with special needs and unfortunately from time to time I witness some of these kids taking seizures. The vast majority feel extremely tired after an attack. I'm sure the physical intensity of a seizure on the body results in this extreme tiredness.

The intensity of a CH may not reach the levels of a seizure but never the less this in conjunction with the pain and duration of an attack does yield similar results.

After a full blown attack I have but no option but to sleep. If I can abort with 02 then usually I'm fine and I don't feel tired at all.

Have you tried Melatonin Bob...!

OK, I just read a thread about it. Is it something I have to get prescribed from my doctor? This is all new to me. :D

It's a natural sleep aid....

It works wonders for many on this site and allows them to sleep through those nasty night time hits... Have a look through the Medications,  Treatments,  Therapies section and there you shall find a number of very informative threads on the subject. Unfortunately you can't get it this side of the pond but I'm defo getting some for my next cycle. ;)

I often feel like I've been hit a few times by a Mac truck after an attack.

This is no joke I literally feel like I've been put through a meat grinder more than once after a CH attack.  <<This is more of an accurate description.

I don't feel sleepy tired, more physically worn out and definitely mentally deficient.    :D

Yep, if I get hammered with a major attack that I don't abort, I feel seriously wrung out after the attack - especially since my attacks are typically kip 8 or 9, and last anywhere from an hour to two hours (with the occasional 2 1/2 hour attack thrown in to the mix).  I think this is due to the fact that fighting severe pain really consumes  energy.

If I take my abortives in a timely fashion (say 10 minutes or less after an attack starts), I usualy don't feel wrung out, other than maybe being overly tired from having my sleep interrupted by the attack.

The strange thing is I get feeling beat even if I do abort. I don't know why, but it does.
