Title: Relpax Post by mapleleaf on Jul 16th, 2009 at 10:02am
Back again after 3 years - started June 23 and have 1 a day since then- most started between 7 and 9 pm moved back to 5 to 6pm and now happen around 1:30 pm. Scale of 4 to 9 over the time and last 1/2 hr to 2 1/2 hrs.
Dr. gave me Relpax ,seemed to have helped pain subside but for last 4 occurences doesn't seem to be effective. Any experience with Relpax?? |

MY experience:
It's a member of the Triptan family of meds along with: Imitrex, Axert, Amerge, Zomig, Frova and Maxalt. Relpax was formulated to have a longer half life - to last longer in your system. For ME, it was not effective because it took too long to work. But that's true for all tablet forms of Triptans. Injectable and nasal spray versions work much faster. It will provide a good night’s sleep if I use O2 to abort the attack while I'm waiting for it to kick in. But then so do all of the others, with Amerge being the most effective for THAT purpose. Simple oxygen therapy is easily my first choice to stop an attack in its tracks in minutes. Marc |

Thanks for the info - have appt. next week - will see about nasal spray to see if that works better - maybe by then I will be out of cycle !!!
3 weeks is longest of the sessions I have had in past 6 years ( first one 6 years ago was about 4 days then 3 years later it was for about 5 days ) |

I have a friend who uses relpax for his clusters. (He's not in cycle right now, thank God.) But it was the only thing he found that helped him.
It really depends on your body's chemestry and what you need. He took the injections of it. You may just have to try different triptans until you find the right one for you. |

I believe that Relpax is on my long list of things that I've tried and haven't worked. But then again for me the newest Treximet also hasn't been that effective for me. The Relpax didn't work for me at all, the Treximet took too long to work with a rebound shortly after.
