Title: Received my new to me Canon PowerShot today
Post by Melissa on Jul 16th, 2009 at 4:54pm
and I must say I'm impressed.  The macro is exceptional!!  Not only that, it takes good people pictures and the color is well balanced.

I've been fiddling with the buttons and settings to see what it has, and aside from it all being new to me, it's fairly easy to use.

Looks like I'm keeping it!  I will miss my Sony's shutter speed though. :(

Ah well, it'll go up on eBay today.  Gotta pay for my new toy.

:)mel

btw, here's a little sample...

Nice choice Mel.  This was done on my Canon PowerShot at the Giants game a couple weeks ago.

That picture is really, really cool at full size.  If you want to see it, here is a link:

The download is a little over 18MB, so be patient!  The detail which that little point and shoot camera can get is astounding.  You will notice some 'ghosts' on the field.  They are a result of stitching 3 pictures together, and I could have easily removed them but I think they look cool.

That little face is just screaming "can I get away with this if I'm cute and quick enough?" Just adorable and getting so big!

Damn! Now I can't get it out of head. It's OK though, I was fan when he was still alive.

Super, Mel! What shutter speeds do feel you will miss?

Well, since I haven't tried any action shots yet with the Canon, I don't know yet Marc. ;D  I just hope that this one can do water splashes, snow throwing and a bunch of kids running as well as my Sony. :)

Nice pics Mel. Thanks for sharing. I have a "Canon Power Shot SD1000 Dig Elf and really like it. It is almost two years old but looking at the new HD one, but will have to wait a bit as we just fixed our car.

Here is a pic taken with said camera last Sunday.

Did some random shots today.  They're all from inside because it's cold and rainy today.

Go for it Bill! :)

I don't know why, but when it comes to cameras, I always have to try (buy) a new to me one at least once a year. :-/

what I want to know is what fuckin retard decided that all cameras must only have a digital screen and no damn optical viewfinder???

Not everyone wants to aim in the general direction of the subject while holding a camera unsteadily at arm's length, squinting in the sunlight so that absolutely no image can be seen!

My camera just got busted a week ago, and I can't find a decent one that I can SEE my subject in.   Pisses me off.    >:(

Jennifer, that's one thing the Elf has also, a viewfinder.  I missed having one because sometimes it is SO bright outside the LCD is washed out.

Until recently all SLR digitals ONLY had the view finders.  Only in the past year or so have they come out with the screen ability, too.

But then again, the SLR's are a tad bit more expensive ... But you can change lenses, and the pictures are AWESOME!

But, it still amazes me the quality that the point and shoot cameras take!  The point and shoot are also MUCH smaller.  The point and shoot fits right into the purse, without taking all the space. (Or so I have been told)

Chuck
