Title: Anesthesia and CH. Post by Pixie-elf on Jul 21st, 2009 at 9:34pm
Having a lumbar puncture on Thursday, I will be sedated, most likely with Propofol.
Have any of you gotten hit while under anesthesia? As in, did you wake up due to it? If you haven't, feel free to post and let me know that you didn't, or if you did, you didn't wake up. I'll take any information I can get. My headache specialist said I should keep my D.H.E. on hand just in case, but not use it as a preventative. So I'll be doing that. Looking foreward to Thursday so much, but nervous. (I had put this in cluster specific, but deleted it as I figured it fit better here.) Thanks. PFDAN Mystina |

I have been "put under" a couple times, and did not get hit during any of them. I have no idea what they used, but none of them were a trigger for me.
Make sure they have oxygen, at a VERY high flow rate, available, just in case! I hope you have the same luck! Chuck |

Thanks, that makes me feel better. :D I'm sure Propofol isn't a trigger for me, as during my first cycle I was given it once a week. (I was still having weekly LP's then.) I just didn't know if a hit would be bad enough to make someone come out of anesthesia. I'll definately have the oxygen on hand, and my D.H.E. better safe than sorry. ;) |

Okay, so no problems with a hit during the procedure, I was given propofol, versed, and ketamine.
However, as soon as they wore off, the beast was there. I feel SO much better now though. My ICP was up, so they drained it off, and now I don't feel like puking all over the place. (I also hallousinated I was taking a final test to become an anestesialogist. Everyone had a good laugh at that.) |

How much Ketamine did you get?
I red about Ketamine comma being possible way to cure some pains, but by guessing you had minimal dose. |

I have no idea, but I felt no headache pain whatsoever. (I felt some pain when they struck a nerve root with the needle.) However much I was given was enough to induce strong hallousinations. I firmly believed my family had just wished me luck on my last test to become an anesthesiologist, that I'd been going to school at the university for a long time. So I was laying there, and thought the 3 anesthesiologists were my classmates, and teacher... then a little while later I felt them scrubbing my back, and realized this was a really BIZARRE test to become an anesthesiologist...then remembered I was having a lumbar puncture. If you can find out how much is required to induce that strong of hallousinations, I'd guess you'd have your dose. XD The thing I wonder? If you're out cold by it, would you still hallousinate? I would NOT want to be stuck like that for a week and unable to get out. |

The trick is to give so much to make patient go into comma, receptors in brain then deattach eachother and sometimes the chronic pain can be resolved, but not sure if it would work for CH.

I think it might depend on if CH is like other pain syndromes... On the other hand, you might want to see if it hits any of the same receptors as the RC seeds / LSA / Shrooms, etc. It is a hallousinogenic, so there's the possibility it might have some use there. Dunno tho. |
