Title: quick question about RC seeds Post by jpa on Aug 1st, 2009 at 10:35pm
The RC seeds I have are about a year old and I was wondering if they would still work or if I should order some new ones before I need them?

Could be kind of like going into hurricane season with old flashlight batteries and no way to test them. Better safe than sorry subjugating, old and weak can go hand in hand.

It's funny you mentioned hurricane season, a lot of times when I get woke up at night by the beast I will be having a dream that I am trapped in a hurricane. When I wake up it takes me a little while to realize what is actually happening then I hit the O2.

If they worked well a year ago and you have kept them stored in a dry and dark place they are probably ok.
At the same time their is no way to know if new ones would be any better unless you have a lab to test them. Some potency may be lost but its hard to tell. If your thinking about needing them and you are getting some minor CH symptoms there is no better time to test a very small dose. might just help you to not need them at all. |

Coach
When seeds are fresh the shell cracks and flattens under pressure and the white all stay a bit soft and intact with the shell. When dead they just crumble. I have seeds 3 years old that are just as effective as when new but not so soft. The whites have turned a bit yellowish yet no loss of effectiveness. I had purchased new RC meds last year that were not as affective though fresher and they did require an increased dosage. I find the older seeds better alleviate my CH symptoms and keep me pain free. I saw a study done by Sewell showing the differences found in the LSA content of seeds. ( cant find it now.) BobW mentions this often as well. Seeds fresh or not showed drastic differences in their LSA and other content and some seeds showed no LSA at all. I'm certain climate and growing conditions play a very large part in the production of seeds and effectiveness. Therefore you never really can be sure what you get when purchasing seeds. A reputable vendor helps. This also helps to explain the vast differences in dosing people take. Interesting note on the color variations: The Mazatec healers long ago used to say that the lighter seeds were for the women and the darker seeds for the men. It would be interesting to see if any differences in a lab analysis. |
