Title: Now I'm really angry...
Post by Redd on Aug 5th, 2009 at 1:17pm
I've already filed a complaint with the State Consumer Protection as well as the DOJ.

I may be over reacting, but my instincts tell me I'm not.

During my normal morning job hunt, I came across 2 postings on CareerBuilder for Telemarketers and Customer Service for a business I'd never heard of in the area.  So as is my habit to do, I did some web research on the name of this business.

As anyone who is out of work can attest to, the job sites are plastered with scam/spam/phishing job postings.  Some are easy to recognize like make money with google  OR get rich posting to craigslist.

Well in my search regarding one "Sports Spectrum LLC" I came across report from the US Department of Justice about them and their partners in crime.  Yes I say crime.

All research including phone number, addresses and business nature from Scoreboard, and FreePlay points to this being the same group of criminals.

Amherst Junction/Nelsonville is just a hope from here.  Here are the links to the want ads from Sports Spectrum, which cross references to the LLC during the web search.

It's bad enough that spam/scam artists are preying on the unemployed...but when criminals are now soliciting for help to further their illegal activities...it's reprehensible.

That's what bad guys do.

They are in my own back yard Marc...and there are apprx. 10K unemployed people in the tri-county area all within commuting distance to this place....

Preying on the unemployed in itself should be a crime...and soliciting for paid assistance in order to commit a crime?

I thought I was frustrated yesterday...today I'm just MAD AS HELL.

Further investigation reveals that the defendants in the above case attempted to appeal certain convictions under the plea agreement.  However, just over 1 year after making the plea...the court of Appeals AFFIRMED the decision of the District Court.
