I have a follow up MRI on Friday for "a contrast examination for complete evaluation".

The previous MRI found an" 8mm syrinx within the spinal cord at the C5-C6 disk interspace". I'm told the cord is not expanded.

I had posted a while back to see if anyone else had one of these show up on any MRI's. To my surprise there was no other instance of this occurance!

The bottom line is that if this thing has indeed expanded, there will be a need to go in and drain it. The thought of going into my spinal cord to do this is to say the least,unsettling!

I've spent countless hours meditating on the subject and I have come to terms with whatever the outcome my be. The one thing I know is that the collective vibes from the people on this site make a difference. I thank you in advance, and will let you all know the results as soon as possilble.

You have'em bud. I never had your problem, just the vertibrae twisted and the discs swollen (sic) in the C-3 thru C-7 area. I wish you all the best with it.

I'm very grateful for all your support. I go in at 7:45pm for the MRI.

The powers that be finally realized that the MRI machines at the many hospitals here in Toronto should be utilized 24/7.

I had one done a couple of years ago at Mt. Sinai and it was done at midnight!

If you're not picky about the time it generally doesn't take too long to get in for an MRI.

Spent over an hour in the MRI. They did a scan of my whole spine, dye injection, the whole nine yards.

I have to wait until Monday at the earliest to find out the results.

Thinking of you and hoping you are well. If you just need a lumbar puncture those arent too bad. I have had at least 10 myself. Ask for a sedative and then try to chill out. Do not be afraid to tell the doc if it hurts. That is what locals are for. Drink lots of caffiene afterwards to ward off the low pressure headache and lay on your back!!! Be lazy !!!! You only get one back, be nice to it.
Big supportive hugs from Denmark. If and when you get this done just visualize your favorite auntie hugging you and that would be me. I get scared when I get those done. So I always visualize my favorite auntie or gramma hugging me. It helps.

Forgive me for taking so long to get back to all that sent me their best wishes.
After a couple of beauracratic snafues I finally got the positive results I was hoping for. No surgery!
