Ryan Stockdale is home from San Francisco.

Ryan's wife, Karia Stockdale, tells Today's Channel 6 anchor Michelle Edmonds Ryan flew home Sunday.  They had been in San Francisco since mid-July in preparation of Ryan's brain surgery to treat his cluster headaches.

During the surgery, doctors implanted a device in his brain, which was activiated at a low level last Friday.  Doctors will gradually raise the level to determine if the surgery was successful.

Karia tells Today's Channel 6 News since the device was activated, Ryan suffered a total of two peaks from his cluster headaches.  Before the surgery, Ryan experienced 8-10 peaks per day.

Karia also says Ryan is out of bed and able to walk around the house for the first time in months.

The article states Ryan was having 8-10 'peaks' per day, though Karia, his wife, told me it got to be "at an 8 all day peaking to a 10 nearly 20 times a day." - article seems to be an understatement.? oh well - DBS seems to be helping immensely so far!!  SO glad for Ryan, and as long as they can tweak it to help him even further, what a good deal!!!   [smiley=grin2.gif]

I was waiting a few days, once they got home, before I called them.  I guess your update shows that they are ready for a phone call!

Apparently, they've had to remove the wires due to infection.

Thanks for the update, George!  Maybe that is why I have not been able to reach Karia on the phone.  I will have to keep trying.

DAYUM!!  Ryan NEEDS a good break, for once!  My prayers and vibes are still heading out their way.

oh yes - they are at UCSF again - a frontal lobe infection.  It would have been fatal had they not learned of it when they did.  They will have to come up with another chunk of change for another surgery in about 4 months if all goes well with the infection - but they are hopeful.  At least they know DBS worked and was working better and better as time went on... 

As soon as they took out the stimulators Sat, of course the beast was baaack.   >:(
