Mine feels very bruised at the moment. Just thought it might be interesting to read. Thanks lorac |

Aye there can be bruised feeling from nerves over skull and veins around, but brain itself does not poses noniceptieve neurons, which means itself cannot feel pain but can generate it.
Not sure if it helped you :/ |

A question which I've never explored and none of the CH based literature has ever discussed the issue.
There is a newly developing model for how the brain creates pain in response to injury/disease. This new development indicates that inputs such as emotions/other sources of stress can trigger a response which we experience as pain. IF this model holds water, I can imagine that a number of chronic diseases/emotionally intense experiences may be triggers for unusual experiences. ????? Out of my league. But I've worked enough with PTSD to appreciate that our brains are capable of responses which are beyond are present understandings. |

I describe it as the CH hangover! A 90 minute ride will leave me with the "bruised brain" feeling for up to 3 days. :'(

I know exactly what you mean. The HA side of my head feels bruised during most of my cycle. Example...skin is sore (even to move my hair around in my scalp), sore to blink, sore inside my head to the point that I cannot lie on that side when I sleep (no way). It also feels very swollen as well as bruised. You're not alone! Good luck!

I often feel like what a stroke victim must feel like after I have a CH hit.
Speech is slurred or can't find words or pronounce words I need. Thinking is nearly impossible, all neurons are firing in the wrong direction or just plain exploding. Speech and thinking issues come into play for me both before and after a CH attack. :-X I often feel exhausted after a hit. It would be interesting to see what the brain is doing during a CH hit. |

If you think about it, after such intense pain it stands to figure there will be some residual effect. |

I interpretated the original question too narrowly--thinking onlyl in terms of injury to the brain.
We have, over the years, shared experiences about specific pain at the site of pain (temple, back of neck, etc.) for a period after an attack. I used to have pain in my left temple. After an attack, justing waving my fingers over the area, moving a few hairs, would trigger sensitivity/mild pain. I've always interpreted it as a kind of sensitivity in the nerve--something like the pain of a bruised muscle. |

oh yeah... This morning it feels like someone pulled my hair all night....must be from beating myself in the head!
I try not to, but it helps some way. I use the heel of my hand, ,,,some one should invent a loft tool for this ;D something like the consistency of a Zucchini would be good. I have actually eyed my zukes. lol My husband thinks I've gone wacko. :D |
