Title: Does anyone else have this problem? Post by Artonio on Aug 18th, 2009 at 2:10pm
This is concerning notifications of Private Messages to my email address. I have checked all of the appropriate options in my user control panel and I still do not receive notification of PM's from this site to my designated email address.
Is there an option that I am not checking? Is that happening with anyone else? with warm regards, Tony |

Wish I could help you, brother. I've never used that option.
But I thought it was a good opportunity to say howdy. Howdy! |

It works for me.
Check your spam folder and your email addy on file here. Past that, I can be of no help. B |

It is my personal vendetta against you ...
You gave me a dirty look, once, so I hacked into the server, and have put a curse on your account. See what happens when you pick on poor lil ole me? DON'T piss off the sexy old queen! Smirking Chuck |
Title: Re: Does anyone else have this problem? Post by Artonio on Aug 18th, 2009 at 4:39pm
At first I thought the function was not working because of spam filters... but that's not the case. I have the spam filter function shut off...
I used to also get notifications of replies to certain topics... via my email address... that function does not work for me now. ...and chuck ... let's see... where's that F*** Y** emoticon? ;) with warm regards, Tony |

Told you to be nice to Chuckles, but you just wouldn't listen to me would ya? Now you've gone and made him angry..... oh well, he'll get over it eventually.... until then you're on your on...
But I still love ya... :-* |

Chuck is gay? I almost forgot, but thanks for the daily reminder.
I know I'm opening a can of worms here, and I know exactly how un-PC it is to even mention it, but I fail to see why 95% of Chuck's posts have to make sure that people know he's really, really gay. It's like the guy who is a homophobe who has to proclaim his heterosexuality constantly... You can all ostracize me now for mentioning it... after all I'm nothing more than a right wing nut job conservative who is threatened by the mere mention of gay people because it might turn me gay. But in all seriousness, why the obsession with making sure the whole world knows this in almost every post you make, Chuck. I get it, you're gay. That's cool, good for you. What kind of acknowledgement are you looking for? This isn't an attack, I am asking a legitimate question. I don't see others on here saying how black they are, or anything even close. Should I make sure every post I make on here talks about how straight I am? Wouldn't that seem odd? I have nothing against gay people. I really don't, and I have more than a few gay friends here in the Bay area. I am not homophobic, not even close. I just find the whole in-your-face approach to be unnecessary at best, possibly inappropriate on a medical site like this which has nothing to do with sexual orientation. |

Same thing doesn't work for me either, Tony.

Nothing to do with political orientation either. |

I see not one thread on being gay... that would make it relevant.

Title: Re: Does anyone else have this problem? Post by Ginger S. on Aug 18th, 2009 at 5:35pm
Hmm no don't have that problem, but then I have mine set to no... ;)
Go to your profile (via the "User CP" link at top of page), edit options, in the third box from the bottom there is a Yes or No drop down box for email notifications. If it is set to No that is the issue. If not...check your spam filter on your email or try using a different email address such as gmail. Hope this helps |

My, how ironic. I suppose you never considered whether your signature ("Life is too short to educate liberals") is an 'in-your-face' approach or 'unnecessary at best, possibly inappropriate on a medical site like this' which has nothing to do with politics? The difference between you and Chuck is that Chuck is telling us who he is without tearing anyone else down. |
Title: Re: Does anyone else have this problem? Post by ClusterChuck on Aug 18th, 2009 at 5:36pm
Hmmmm ... I did not realize that I did that so often. I can see where it would get to be tiring, regardless of your feelings about it.
You are right. No one needs it repeatedly, blatantly flashed in front of them. Sorry folks! I will watch my comments in the future. Chuck |

Thank you for taking the comment the right way. You have a level head on your shoulders. And don't stop being you, everybody loves you. -Shawn |

Title: Re: Does anyone else have this problem? Post by Shawn on Aug 18th, 2009 at 5:53pm
Steph,
People start political discussions and the conversation involves politics. I don't go posting political comments about non-political threads. This is something entirely different. If I wanted to avoid politics, I wouldn't open the political threads. I was hoping the distinction would be more obvious. Seems like Chuck understood my comment more than anybody else. -Shawn |

LOL... aside from the political stuff and the orientation stuff... Stef... how can we address the problem of the original post? I have clicked all of the appropriate buttons... I have checked to see if my email address is spelled correctly in the user control panel... and my email client does not have a spam filter switched on. Any help you can give me in this matter would be greatly appreciated. with warm regards, Tony |
Title: Re: Does anyone else have this problem? Post by Mrs Deej on Aug 18th, 2009 at 6:00pm
No Shawn...I see exactly what you're saying and I understand it too...I just found your comment about relevance a little humerous...that's all.
Back on the subject...I have double checked the PM settings and it seems they are where they should be. I'm not sure why you are having trouble. I would check your spam filters again...sorry Tony. |

Kevin if you can get your to work... please let me know what you did to fix it. I'm using comcast.net... I've checked the control panel in my email client and there are no spam filters, there is an option for turning the spam filter off and on... and if it is switched on... all of the spam is sent to a folder for me to review. Must be a glitch in the system somewhere. [smiley=dankk2.gif] with warm regards, Tony |

I didnt know Chuck was gay. Does that mean he goes around all day singing Im a Happy Boy?
Once upon a time gay meant happy for those of you too young to remember that. Chuck are you planning to release a CD of you singing Im a Happy Boy? I want a signed copy please. Giggle. Big hugs from Denmark, Sophia |

Tony, Dunno quite what to tell you.
All I know is, when I logon to this site and I have a msg from someone, George Carlin's voice announces to me........"you've got a Letter in your Mailbox", in this haughty, stuffy kinda voice. I miss George, so I just LOVE this feature...... I hope you find YOUR voice, as well. (hello?hello?hello?) Cathi :D |
Title: Re: Does anyone else have this problem? Post by BarbaraD on Aug 20th, 2009 at 5:24pm
Now I'm totally confused!!!
Is Chuckles GAY! Does he go around singing "Happy BOy?" IS he releasing a CD that I don't know about? Is Tony having trouble hearing voices? (maybe it's the pacemaker.) Did Tony know Chuck was gay? Does anyone else hear voices? Are you kids talking "geek" talk again to confuse me? You know how easily I get confused.... This thread has me so confused I've gotten a headache and I think I'll go lie down for a while and think about it. Maybe it will make sense in a while....(or maybe not)... You kids play nice while Granny naps... :-* |

Post away Chuck, I love you for being you. Don't ask, don't tell doesn't apply to this family :) |

Come stand next to me and you will look like Twiggy! Just a simple comment about Chuck and his posting. I sorta understand why the question came up but on the other hand, often people post with specifics on their sports affiliations, gender, political beliefs, relationship with God, etc...... Yet no one questions why they do this. If you knew Chuck, you would know that he is who he is and his posting is a reflection of his personality. There is no reason he should hide or not reflect who he is in his posting. I am a bit jealous of Chuck being able to be openly who he is and not fear negativity. I do not share that ability. I find it hard to open up and be who I am. |

Fram, my love, you were doing a pretty good job of "letting" loose while you were hanging out with Chuckles and me in St. Louis.... When you have trouble letting it all hang out - just try to imagine (lovingly of course) that you're standing between Chuckles and I are we're having a "bun testing" contest and you're the TESTEE! :-[ :-[
Now, didn't that bring you out of your shell just a little???? Hugs BD :-* |
