Title: What's for dinner Saturday? Post by Mosaicwench on Aug 29th, 2009 at 5:25pm
I know the rest of the world thinks it's still August, but it's been a delightful 62 degrees here all day (making it feel more like October).
I thought about making chili, but decided Hungarian Goulash would be more fun (since I had green peppers going red). It will be served with home-made gnocchi, sweet corn, and a mix of cantaloupe and yellow watermelon. YUMMM!!! What's on YOUR table tonight? ![]() |

Well I was going to make nachoes until I read your post. It sure makes me hungry for goulash. I just might make that instead. Hmmm. I am freezing.

It is not nice out tonight for a BBQ so it will be a toss up between Meatloaf M&M in a box or Crab & Tuna sandwiches.
We are still thinking about this as we had a huge lunch at Wabora Japanese Fusion Steak House and still not really hungry. No pics of lunch, sorry. |

Barry, do tell. What ever posessed you to mix M&M's into your meatloaf?
Cookies I could see. Even banana bread. But meatloaf? |

Damn right the cooking happens outside tonight!
Oh so we had our menu-tasting at the hotel for the wedding reception today. MMmmm. We had 5 different starters: Cajun-Crab Croquettes, bacon wrapped scallops, shrimp cocktail, black bean burritos and potstickers. We tasted a caprice salad, spinach and then just a boring garden salad. Then we had a raspberry sorbet, mmmmm. Dinner entrees we got to taste were filet with port sauce, blue cheese filet (winner), mahi mahi with cilantro rice and pesto, and chicken mushroom something. Then we had chocolate dipped strawberries! So anyway, it was lots of fun and we know we'll have great food at the wedding! |

Wow. And I thought we were going overboard when we fed the wedding party and immediate family a New York Strip, baked potato, salad, vegetable, and cake.
I guess things have changed since 1982. So, after eating all that, what's the need for dinner? I'm thinking popcorn and a movie. |

Ok but that's now what we're having served! Those were just all the yummy things we got to taste!!! Yea, we weren't very hungry but Joe made such a great dinner we ate again anyways!

We were at a wedding reception last night. Had the yummiest, juciest fried chicken, stuffing, homemade chicken noodle soup, smashed potatoes, gravy, beef tips, hot rolls & coleslaw.
Wish we could have taken some home with us! :) |

You mean you went to a Wisconsin wedding without tupperware tucked into your purse??? Are you SURE you're a native Wisconsinite? ;) |

Reading the what's for dinner threads always makes me hungry! Potter, those ribs look delicious!
I'm getting ready to make stuffed peppers, using peppers and tomatoes from the garden. |
Title: Re: What's for dinner Saturday? Post by Linda_Howell on Aug 30th, 2009 at 5:56pm Uh...tell me you are joking about the 108 degrees in S.D. Joe. Ruth and Jimi asked me just me the other day what clothes to bring (weather-wise) when they visit, and I assured them that S.D. has the best all year weather of any city in the U.S. Totally mild. Never too hot, never too cold. So as not to hi-jack the thread... Western Kentucky is apparently crazy about Cat-fish so I made that last night. With hush-puppies and steamed veggies. (the steamed veggies..being attributed to my Calif. roots) lol |

So is the Brew Crew - so we'll be there in about 12 hours - keep it hot! LOL. |
