It has, but, since the age of 14, they've have got a lot worse. Sometimes I can't seem to shake them off. So, I just lay in bed with my eye mounted on the tip of my pillow... Until it goes away and then I go back to my life for a few hours. :-\ |

Yeah, it is pretty great, huh? I've had them for a while as you read from my post.. I decided, hey, why not give the forums a try. How long have you been suffering from CH? |

Hi Mike & Welcome
1st tip . . . Oxygen! I can abort in minutes if used at the onset of attack. Works for 70%+ . . . inexpensive if insurance won't cover and you have to pay cash. Read the yellow highlighted "oxygen info" link on the left. Another abortive that works in minutes is Imitrex injectible (also comes in tablets . . . but they take up to 20 minutes to work . . . and as fast as clusters ramp, not considered that beneficial to us. Also comes in a nasal spray which is quicker, but not near as fast as the injectible. I can't use trex at all due to some artery blockage and high cholesterol . . . so 02 is my only abortive . . . a real miracle for most of us. Melatonin (over the counter) works for many if you suffer night hits. There are several preventatives out there like Verapamil (which I used to good effect when I came here a basket-case 2/02). I now use water therapy (see "water X 3" . . link on left). It is NOT easy to do, but can reduce the frequency/intensity of attacks. LOTs of info/caring/sharing here from folks who truly know your pain. Haven't been to Toronto since 69-70 . . . was there three times . . . fond memories of the Ontario Science Center, the horse tracks, and that's where I first saw/played on a 12' snooker table (have been a fairly serious pool (and snooker when available) player for over 40 years. Love your city. What have you used that did/didn't work over the years? Read, read, read . . . ask any questions you might have. Be Safe, PFDANs Richard |
