Title: random acts of violence during a headache... Post by Patrick S. on Sep 3rd, 2009 at 3:40pm
I'm not talking about punching out everybody in striking distance, lol, altho sometimes I really really want to! lol
More of being at a kip 9-10 and punching a wall, drilling your fist into your temples, slamming doors and shit like that. When I am in an extreme h/a I kinda zone out, dont talk to me and certainly dont offer assistance, theres nothing ANYBODY can do so I clench my teeth and say no thank you but go away NOW!!!!!!!! I have a few holes in my walls, one in solid pine door, lol, and if Im hurtin and in public? I'd hate to be the person who steps on my toe! :'( I usually run to a hidden area if Im not home, which can be hard to find sometimes, just ask Central Park in New York City! LOL can ya relate? |

Honestly? No.
You might want to talk to someone regarding developing some tools for anger management. I've seen "random acts of violence" come out of a number of people, none of whom had CH. What they all had was an inability to control and direct their anger. |

I don't feel that way at all.
On the big hit the beast is so intense in my head all I can do is think of it and nothing else around me, which is why I would hit my head with my hand or push against my skull. My mum saw me on Tuesday with a kip9 and even though she was in the car I felt safer than when I was alone. |

Nope.
During a true high level hit, I just withdraw into myself and tune out the rest of the world. Nothing exists but the pain itself. |

not anymore and i think the posters are full of it as i recall many many saying how they used to slam there head before learning better coping skills.
Where in Ct are ya? I work in stamford. If you dont have a solid doc u better get your ass to stamford and see Dr Sheftell at NECH good luck and learn to breath and zone instead |

I used to get to that point sometimes, long time ago when I couldnt really handle a kip-10 and didnt have the proper meds. I never banged my head on anything, but I did punch a few holes in some walls as a teenager. Learning to control your emotions, can be hard when in such pain. You just gotta practice it. One thing that helped me thru this stage when I was around 18 or 19 years old, was the fact that acting out with this rage didnt make the pain go away any quicker, and it seemed to almost intensify it, make it worse. Get a rag to chew on and flex your muscles, dont hit nobody man... ;) |

I was never violent during my headaches, I cringed...
Up until another neurological condition came out of remission (it mimics a brain tumor.) I started throwing things during hits, and would get incredibly enraged, or depressed. This was part of how I knew something was different. NOW... Let me say this. A childhood friend of mine also has clusters. He's gotten violent during hits, but he takes it out against walls generally, punching them. Once or twice the ER did call the police on him, but he has other issues. It may be something that counselling can help you get a hold on. It may simply be the way that you cope with hits. But if you haven't had an MRI, I would reccomend getting one. |

A little bitchy >:( maybe but not violent ;D
I prefer to be by myself unless it's really baadd then I want help with hot clothes etc if nothing else is working, including my abortives. My Dad has had to help me through a few unfortunately, poor guy gets out of breath just helping me through them sometimes. Admittedly those few he had to help with I probably should have gone to hospital for, but I can be stubborn even when battling the beast. I don't like to talk or be spoken to during one so if you get chatty around me when I'm rockin the beast then I'm liable to get up and just leave the room or ignore you all together, my Chatty daughter learned this the hard way, poor kid. But she now is understanding a little bit more of what I go through, it's taken her longer than my son or Dad to come around on CH. |

You should change the title of this message.
What you describe really isn't acts of violence as opposed to self injury or even aggression but not towards another being. I apologize if my initial post offended. From the responses that I read it appeared to me that they were directed towards the term violence as opposed to poor ways we get our angst out. Like I said, try zoning it works better |

No violence.
But no light, no sound, some hair pulling, some palm of the hand against the head. Lots of ice water soaked hand towels to the side and back of head. And when it's over......just some time to lay there and recover whats left. |

No.
I used to be more...demonstrative. I'm a lot quieter these days. I think that happens after a while. Making noise and banging my head into things never did any good, anyway. Best, George |

yeah,i didnt mean violence on other people but anger and rage from the pain, sorry to mislead. I do zone but when i enter a cycle my minds not ready and after a couple 10's I normally get into the zone and suffer mode.Last night I had a 5 hour headache, well 4 consecutive ones that oxygen aborted but they would return very soon,I gave up on the O2 and went old school, just pace or did my dance lying down with ice packs for well over an hour.My head is still sore and Im afraid of what today will bring. :( added: I have had mri and ctscans about 4 years ago after 3 or 4 years of needless suffering and diagnosed "cluster".I use O2 as abortive and no preventatives. |
