Title: Lousy place to get hit ...
Post by ClusterChuck on Sep 4th, 2009 at 5:50pm
Ok, I found ANOTHER place that truly sucks to get hit ...

I was sent up to the Baltimore area (this time for business, not family visitation) and got stuck in wall to wall, bumper to bumper traffic, basically from Richmond, Virginia all the way up to Baltimore, Maryland!  UGGGGHHH!

Now, picture being in the left lane, in an eight lane highway, bumper to bumper, mostly stop and sometimes go traffic ... and THEN get nailed by the beast!  No place to go.  No place to pull over.

I had to nail the oxygen, and then after a short time (I knew it was gonna be a humdinger) a shot of Imitrex, all the while trying to stay inconspicuous in the traffic flow!

That hit goes right up there next to the time I got hit, while on the table, and hooked up to the blood sucker, while donating blood.

That SUCKED!!!

Now, where are some of the shitty places YOU got stuck getting nailed?

Chuck

PS: Seeing I am FORCED to be up here, at the company's expense, I might as well visit the grandchildren AGAIN !!!  Heehee ...

The office in Sacramento sucked.
But, like you, stuck on a freeway. Highway 880 north bound 6pm during rush hour under Mission blvd. No meds, just my trusty steering wheel for my head to attack.

Sorry, Chuck.
Let's do coffee next weekend and have a good laugh at ourselves!

What a wonderfully thought provoking post..."it was the best of times, it was the worst of times" (will explain)...

It was a sales meeting with a VERY important potential customer...and I was the lead...bosses to the left of me, bosses to the right of me...screw this up and they would no longer be my bosses....you know?

Went in with a kip 1...figured I could weather that....quickly ramped up to a 5...6...7...8?...but sometimes you just gotta do what you just gotta do
(have left many meetings, to the consternation of my colleagues, was not an option this time).

To this day I have no idea what I said or did (just prayed they wouldn't see the tears leaking out of my  eye)...drip...drip...drip...

Why would I call that the best of times?...well...I used every ounce of willpower I ever possesed or expect to possess, and carried on....(damn, this makes me tear up)...and I GOT us that business! I PAID for that business like no one ('cept you'all) will ever know. AND, I LEARNED that the beast doesn't always win...
and I use that on a regular basis...

I KNOW you all understand this...I KNOW this is not unique...I KNOW my brothers and sisters in ch have done similar countless times....my respect and regard
is boundless...another proud clusterhead reporting for duty, SIR!

Thanks Chuck...I ALMOST forgot this...

Best,

Jon

Aside from freeway hits like Chuck's -I guess mine is like Jon's.

In front of a crowd of 350 professional's in my industry who flew into town and paid $500 to hear my presentation. About 1/2 way through I realized that I wasn't going to tough this one out......

Just grab your cell phone, look intent and say "I'm REALLY sorry, but this is a serious family emergency that I must attend to now."

I've been in Chuck's place - it's actually worse because there is no where to go.........

Sucks big time, Chuck. I keep my baby sized O2 tank next to me with a mouthpiece on it, and a Zomig NS in the center console. When I have any questions, the Zomig goes NOW, then the O2.

Feel for you Bro

While driving a 10,000 gal. aircraft fuel truck. Had no choice @ a K-9 other than driving the 1.5 miles to base. I was shaking so bad I could barely hold the gas pedal.

At the Hospital for a pre-sugery class for the wife. Got hit during the class and went out in the hallway to sit with my O2 and rock. After the 3rd nurse tried to help me, I went outside to escape. It was 15* out and windy.

When I got to the car I didn't have my keys. I refused to go back in @ K-8. Sat on the ground for 20 min. The hit stopped and the wife showed up.

Been on the side of the road too.

Don

No place is a "good place for a hit". Some are just worse than others....

One that stands out in my mind was before O2 and Zomig was a part of my life....  Started getting hit on the way home from the library one Sunday afternoon. Got to within a mile of my house when I could go no further......45 minutes of K9 in the post office parking lot. Might not sound all that bad as far as CH goes.....but for some reason being that close to home and not able to make it just pissed me off no end.

Sorry Chuck. Sucks big time.  >:(

Nothing at all like most of you. I was lucky, I guess.

You'd think we'd get a pass from this thing but then I guess the beast gets off on it.  >:(

Sorry Chucky.  Any hit anywhere is no fun.
I was getting my hair done once and got hit right in the middle.  I had to leave and rush to get a cab home.  My hair half done.  The cab driver wasn't sure whether to drive me home or the mental ward of the nearest hospital :-/.  That was before I found this place.

Hugs,
Langa

Last Saturday night while standing on the top of an 8' stepladder (where it says "this is not a step") and reaching as high as I could with a paintbrush cutting in the trim on the wall.  Didn't know whether to fall or just jump head first.

Sorry to hear, Chuck.

It was a meeting with my son's teacher about his classroom behavior. By the end of the meeting, there were no questions as to where his behavioral problems come from.

Right before going into the operating room for back surgery I’m laying on the table with that god awful bright light hanging over me I start getting restless. The anesthesiologist asks me if I’m OK and I told him I had a BAD headache coming on. He says ‘oh don’t worry, we’ll take care of that’ and 6 hours later I woke up with no h/a.
That was the only one I’ve ever had aborted and didn’t even know it.

Worst place I got hit was before I even knew the name CH, I had been *dealing* with them for about 3 months for the second year of having made their lovely acquaintance, and it was in the middle of band class in high school.  Me, in the trumpet section, right in front of the drumline, trying to not bash my head in while at the same time trying not to claw my eye out.  It was a most lovely experience.

In hotel reception desk where i was working alone long time ago.Afternoon shift and was expecting along others two different school classes to check in, first one at five o'clock and the second one about seven o'clock.
Got hit with a kip 8 at nine o'clock and both schools
arrived simultaneously at that time due to flight delays.Even if their rooms and keys where already arranged as always the students and their teachers wanted changes of the last second(the whole list of rooms).
There were 100 kids with their teachers in front of desk, tired and angry and i couldn't even focus where was the pc screen.moreover there were rooms checking out and were extremely angry cause i was delaying them also.phones ringing..i don't even want to remember all these. In other times circumstances i loved having all these but at such times i  just couldn't.
That's when i decided i am done with hotels and customers face to face communication.Afterwards became silent security guy with a joke salary outside a bank with sun glasses and terminator 2 attitude(I am having a red eye under the glasses so leave me just alone to be and stand here).
But than an extreme cycle of high crisis just couldn't leave me stand there(if i only could rock outside the pavement)and left resigned from there too.
oh F@%k i am and feel a loser :-/

Just went for a bike ride it was a pretty day, why not. Got my Ipod, bottle of water hop on my sons bike and away I went. 45 minutes later I was like damn my when did these bike seats get so small? Any way I better head home so I circled around and started to head home. Everything was going so well it was a beautiful day I was getting exercise I was not in front of my computer then yes you guessed it the beast showed his ugly face. I of course ran out without any meds (you would think that I would know better by now). So there I was on the side of a quite busy road in Madison next a bike on the ground trying to talk to Police officers  :D. I did talk them in to taking me home not the hospital!!!! woohoo! :o

Abosolute worst place for me was in the MRI machine.  This was my MRI after the CAT scan to rule out anything sinister.  I did not know that the Dr had found a cyst on the cat scan and that was where he directed the MRI to be taken.  Of course, this was no where near my hypothingy.  (I wish I knew then what I know now)

I went in the machine a normal looking person (ha) and a few minutes in, I felt the twinge (crap!!) I told the tech I needed to get out of there, and her response was that it would only be another 5 minutes (she did NOT understand).  My head was strapped down and there was no where to go and nothing I could do except deal with the pain by telling her to hurry the fuck up!!!

Only you guy's can imagine the look of shock on her face when she took me out of that machine.  My face was drenched, my eye and face swollen, I was at a k7 and rising.  The tech took my through the back way so I would not scare the hell out of the family that was in the waiting room (her words).

I was put in another waiting room (empty) until an older lady came in and sat across from me.  I was rocking and trying to wish the pain away.  She asked me if I was ok and I told her I was having a cluster headache and she said ohh.  I think she knew what they were by her response and she left me alone.  The lady's working in that waiting room could not get through their heads that I did not want to be put in a dark room and lay down.  All I needed was a box of kleenex and to be left alone.  After a half hour in the waiting room, the ch went away and I left......exhausted.

"That would be the butt, Bob".  :)

I hate getting hit there!

Seriously, it was one Thanksgiving and Christmas after another.....ALWAYS caused by msg laden stuffing, noodles, whatever. I had to hide out, and rock for a couple of hours, and I never knew why.

I've done the Walmart thing twice with Lisa. Once we managed to hide in the aisles as people walked by and stared but the check out thing wasn't as bad cause she grabbed a redbull from the case and drank it in front of everyone, pacing back and forth. Fortnatly I could check out. I just told the cashier that I'll give you the can when she's done and pay for it then. And Chuck, your senario reminded me of my van breaking down, coming home from my Mom's funeral on the NJ turnpike. Several tow trucks wouldn't even come because it was so risky. We were smack int he middle of the turnpike on the northern end. I might as well been having a clusterheadache!
