It's illegal to dispense medication without a license to do so and probably even MORE illegal to do so by US Mail.

Maybe be a little more discreet in your posts?

Ah but you are right of course, Seaworthy, even if in this particular instance, the law doesn't seem to be so. Darnit.

I guess I went off half cocked there - now maybe I'm more like 3/4 cocked.  :P

I once ran several stop signs and even a stoplight driving someone to the hospital at 3 in the morning with no traffic and my hazard lights on in an emergency situation. Legal, maybe not......

Laws can be arbitrary when we talking about helping someone in a time of extreme need.
If I had some extra imitrex Jeeb, i'd send it to ya. And ethically I wouldnt feel bad about doing it either because morally, I have good intention. Legally, I could give a $hit......

Civil disobediance is a moral act in the fight for justice.....
just my opinion.

Thanks man - good analogy. I've had to use that same sort of emergency driving tactic to help someone before, as I imagine many here have, and in cases like these where there's a law that was made with the intent of preventing bad stuff from happening, I just have to doubt there's really much desire on the part of the authorities to prosecute for technically breaking it when its done with good intent to make a good thing happen.

But using someone else's message board to discuss and facilitate it is another matter.

Have you tried oxygen or busting with hallucinogens?

Yeah I'm able to knock down 6 hits or so a day with high flow rate/ non rebreather O2. I'm using about an "M" tank a day at this point.

Then there are a good 4 or so other hits per day that O2 won't work on, and which I'm using rapidly dwindling imitrex 1/2 doses to combat.

Tried the RC before going on any meds, and for this episode I might as well have been taking sunflower seeds - the night I took 50, I awoke with several hits.

From what I remember about the hallucinogens, the word is  that they supposedly won't work, and aren't worth pursuing while prescription drugs are in the system (?), so I've written them off this time. Hmmm maybe I'm over-reacting in my disappointment with the RC - I should probably go review that some more - thanks for the reminder.

You are correct that the folks experienced with the alternate treatment approach really strongly suggest being med free - Triptans in particular.

But, several people have reported success while still on meds. Not saying it will work for you, but RC seeds are dirt cheap to try if you simply cannot wean yourself off the Imitrex.

It is critical to remember that this approach is normally a process - not an event. It most often takes multiple doses spaced out over time.

Giving up after one or two tries almost assures that it won't work for you when you are in the midst of a serious of bad hits.

Marc

Edit to add: For what it's worth - MY experience with Imitrex taught me that while it worked to kill every single hit, it actually caused me to have more hits if I used it a lot. It forces me into a vicious cycle of use.

This is my firm belief after trying it many, many times over the last 13 years of being chronic. I will not use Imitrex even when I'm getting nailed badly.

I do NOT see this problem with Zomig nasal spray.

Thing is I was just at the very beginning stages of the episode when I tried RC, where although I was being awakened multiple times with hits - they were weak hits that I was able to abort by just breathing very cold air.

I don't actually doubt that - but being episodic and having gotten through a cycle before where I experienced zero major sustained hits, thanks largely to imitrex, I'm not so enthused about forgoing the triptans and enduring a lot of major hits while waiting to find out whether an alternate treatment might work.

Taking note of that! Thanks.

Wow  :o  I would at least offer an apology bejeeber

I would hate to see what would happen to some of us without this board here, it offers understanding and support to so many of us.  No-one wants to go through this kind of pain alone!!

Maybe jeeb didnt exercise the best judgement when he made his initial post.....but its almost damn near mean to condemn him for it. I mean after all.....he's only dealing with the worst headache pain in medical freaking history with limited meds....

A post like his probably should have never been made.....and if he was that desperate to the point where it compromised his judgement the most outlandish thing which he might have substantially contemplated doing should have been was ask someone privately in a pm.....i'm guessing according to the nature of his motive that he was trying to get his message conveyed to the greatest number of people who could possibly help him.....

He did something with positive intention, but irrationally expressed his desperation publicly and was seen as a negative.
One positive and one negative cancels. Apology?
He should just delete the post.

The word is decorum. You can look it up.

And you can dispense with lecturing me.

Some VERY good advice posted here...thanks Brew.

I belong to 3 internet forums...occasionally I google myself...always found what I've said.....NOTHING I've ever said on a public forum is PRIVATE...NOTHING!(including ch.com). Worry about big brother, or not, just be aware...what you say...it's out there...

PM's are a blessing...my advice...use 'em.

N'uff said,

Best,

Jon
