My wife Andrea needed to undergo a routine, if very inconvenient, medical procedure last week. You know, the kind that keeps you up most of the previous night with frequent trips to the porcelain throne. Well, having been down that particular road a number of times myself, I know how much it can take out of you. :(
So there we are the next morning. Poor Andrea looking bedraggled and getting an IV started while I’m ensconced out in the waiting area with a book awaiting the call to drive her home. A nurse pokes her head out to say they’re having some trouble with the IV line but not to worry. Sure… I inform her that she’ll never get a line in Andrea’s hand. They never do … not for lack of trying mind you. “Ok” she says and disappears again. :-/
Five minutes later she pops her head out of the preop room again to say the got a line in higher up and not to worry “your daughter is fine”. :o
That’s right, my wife of 29 years just became my daughter. No food for 24 hours, after a night of physical torture and lying in an OR she still looks that much younger than I. :o
I’m afraid I can no longer deny my long held suspicions that I am Andrea's portrait of Dorian Grey. She remains ever young while I age for the two of us. Only three years separate us - if you can believe that. On the other hand, I guess it’s nice to have a trophy wife. 8-)
