If they are serious about reducing the size of government, they have to start by going after the big ticket items ... things like eliminating medicare, and severely trimming social security. Then we can cut the size of military spending by half (and still be the largest power in the world).

When did we forget the government is suppose to work for us. Not the other way around. I would not want to be a politician for even 15 min because I would never be able to get the smell out of my cloths.

Look, I am more PO'd at the Congress and Senate than I am at Obama.  There are some real squirrel nuts heading up all this crap and completely disregarding the consequences of their actions.  If you don't think ahead when you're trying to pass these bills through, you're not doing your job responsibly and playing with a lot of peoples welfare.

Unfortunately our health care system is killing thousands of people every year because it's unaffordable from many angles. "Death panels" are already in existence because of it.
