Title: New Here and Glad I Found You Guys.
Post by DJSmif on Sep 16th, 2009 at 5:56am
I have been suffering with ch for over ten years but was only recently diagnosed correctly. I had been pain free for two years and thought I had seen the end of these terrible nocturnal (and daytime) pains. My last diagnosis was a brain aneurysm. I had the operation and thought that was done and dusted, turns out the aneurysm was just coincidental.
Biggest Shock of my life when I woke up two weeks ago in the early hours with a familiar and unwelcome friend. Once diagnosed I started researching and came across this site. It is nice to find people rowing the same boat and to know it isn't just me. My Neurologist has prescribed sumatripitran and relpax and betwen these I seem to be finding some relief. One day pain free but tomorrow is another day I suppose.

We'll start sounding like a broken record here ;D but do read the oxygen info link on the left, and talk to your doc about getting it prescribed for your home. Over 30 years of CH here and 02 is still my first and most effective abortive. 6-8 minutes and it's gone. Beats the 90 minutes of ouch I used to endure. Showing an amazing success rate...a rate that continues to climb as we refine how it's administered.

Damn glad you found us, hope we can steer you to a little more pain-free time!

Hi and Welcome to Clusterville

Another strong vote for 02 here.  I can't use triptans at all (some artery blockage and high cholesterol), so 02 is my only abortive . . . can usually kill the beast in minutes if used early-on in the attack.

Proper regulator/flow-rate and mask is essential to success . . . is a miracle abortive for most of us . . . has kept me from many a "dance" since 2/02 when I came here, got life-saving info, and got my life back.

Read, read, read . . . ask any questions you might have.  The answers you get come from folks who truly know your pain.

  Be Safe,

    PFDANs

I don't mind sounding like a broken record!  O2.  Check it out, use it properly, and you have a much better chance of killing the beast each time he rears his head and without the side effects or expense.

sorry couldnt resist. best thing since sliced bread. no side effects, kills attack in 5 min and takes away the fear of being hit.
