Title: Pushed to the edge, still fighting back
Post by burnt-toast on Oct 10th, 2009 at 12:27pm
Haven’t been around for ages, a lot has happened.  In short I’ve been pushed to the edge and then magically released from this nightmare’s grip.

Following several years of near complete CH induced physical/mental exhaustion this nightmare mysteriously released some of its grip on my life.  I’m down to several attacks a week, my Neurologist thinks it’s still too many, but to me its heaven.  I am somewhat normal again.

I’ve been back to work for over a year now, however, I still managed to win my SSD case yesterday.   Wasn’t pursuing benefits, just seeking formal recognition of how disabling the chronic form of this disorder can become.  Finally after years of fighting a Federal Judge ruled favorably.  My journal, combined with complete/thorough documentation from my Neurologist were essential.  The Judge never even asked the government’s medical expert to comment or testify.

Hopefully if/when? my condition returns to the level of control it had achieved, I have a reasonable chance of obtaining benefits I’ve paid for – for over 30 years!

Hope this post finds seasoned board members well and good and gives some level of hope to new folks just starting to square off with this nightmare.

Best Wishes,

Burnt-Toast

That's awesome news on BOTH fronts, hope he's finished beating on you soon. Keep fighting back...it's just what we do. ;)

Once the judge has ruled in your favor it's a done deal.  You will get one years back payment plus the current months payment.

I don't know you but that sounds like quite the inspiring fight you've had, both with the system and the beast. Looks like you're winning on both fronts. Congrats!

Keep it up!

Pushed to extremes, you've held your ground a long while.  The smoke rising, kudos, Thomas burnt "Stonewall" toast.

Hey Kevin,

Good to hear from you too.

I appreciate the "Stonewall" reference but honestly after a while I felt more like burnt-"Mush"-toast.  I really got my back-side kicked the last go-round.

Wonderful on both counts.  It must have been a battle as I was looking up SSD in regards to chronic clusters.  Not many in the social security realm recognize it as a disability.  Wouldn't you just love to have them experience even one of these damn things just to see how painful and dibilitating they are?  I've often wondered what if I can't continue my job?  What the hell am I going to do?  So maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel and this time it's not a train.
GOOD FOR YOU!
