Title: Need some help Post by black on Oct 23rd, 2009 at 6:02am
I am not doing good.
About two crisis per day kip 6-8,too heavy shadows from the time i open my eyes in the morning and after crisis i feel my face for several hours like i ve been punched.tired. DHE pills 2.5mg,energy drinks and vitamin D all i use. one pill just before crisis with an energy drink and a vitamin D 1000 IU per day. i need some advise about this. I am thinking for sticking with taking 3 DHE pills(morning, evening, noon)maybe for five days in a row with a hope it eases it down.is it safe? And how much can i increase the vitamin D without the risk of hypervitaminosis;(don't know much about this but i am sure there is such thing) later.tired. |

I know that you have said "oxygen doesn't help me." Have you tried using it at VERY high flow rates?
When I go into a high cycle, nothing short of about 45 liters per minute will work. During more normal times, I can just get by with 25 lpm. I used to say that "oxygen doesn't work for me." Marc |

i second what marc. keep in mind that using o2 is a type of self therapy and we have a few veterans on this board that have studied and mastered this technique. also most regulators don't go as high as you need them to. 15 LPM is the minimum. mine goes to 25 LPMs and works good. our master o2 gurus recomend higher than that even.

This is something I just read online...so take it for what it's worth...
A growing number of researchers who have widely studied Vitamin D3 are almost begging the general public to consume more of this important nutrient. Due to Vitamin D3’s high safety profile in doses up to 10,000 IU per day and because of the wide role it plays in our health, consuming 2,000 to 4,000 IU per day of this nutrient at times of the year when sunlight is scarce is a prudent way to improve overall health. |

Read about Verapamil for preventive and Zyprexa for abortive. Works so far and easier than tanks.

DHE is a very strong vasoconstictor and over use is not safe. Please tell your Doctor if you use more than prescribed.
O2 (high flow) aborts 98% of my attacks but when it doesn't I use DHE 45 IM injections. This will give me up to 24 hours pain free. I don't use it everyday, the O2 helps with this. Good luck, Don |

the last two days i am somehow better.
only one crisis per day and lighter shadows. It's something i guess.I didn't change anything so i guess this thing always morphs. i ve read everything about 02 and the last attempt of mine was two years ago with a small tank 15 lpm i bought which didn't work. Back then it cost me 20 euros(it was expensive) to refill this small tank and i had to drive down town to the store for every refilling. i guess it's time to check if something has changed. Maybe a good o2 supllier who rents a big tank 25-45lpm refills and brings it home as i read it happens with most of you. no other medicines i ve been on various treatments till now with Nimotop sibelium depakine norgesic medrol efexor seroxat topamac ladose trileptal neurontin isoptin lyrica reumacid tegretol and maybe others i can't remember isoptin never worked in combination with others from the list above and was always always under 480 mg. last time i went to neuro suggested to take isoptin only slowly increasing it till 1100 mg and then decreasing it for three months period with a cardiogram every week( :o). no thanks i think i answered, i ll pass any other experiments on me. :P zyprexa?never heard it,read a few things,i ll pass. so i guess i have to hope something has changed with o2 suppliers.last time i asked if they rent cheap and bring it home for refilling you should have seen their face. It would have been better if i asked to marry their daughter in a cemetery around midnight. :D only like this. I can't afford to pay for another tank and regulator and whatever just to see if it works. there is a point where dissapointment reaches its bottom and enough is enough(ok better ask me for this in five minutes again :D) |

Your list of drugs is scary to me. Personally, I stay as far away from pharmaceuticals as I can get. I've found that it's a domino effect...this pill has side effects which cause you to take another pill, and it's side effects result in another perscription...and on and on we go. What has been working for me is I take Taurine during the day (500 mg) and 2 Kudzu root before bed (1000mg ea) I use Simply Saline for the nasal passages and do self neck and head massage. It seems relatively simple, but it's made a difference in the number of attacks and their longevity.
Hope you find something that helps you soon. |

Have you tried Imitrex?

you need a good preventative. If you want to stay away from Pharmaceuticals try Kudzu. You can purchase it online quite reasonably, and I have found it more effective than Verap. Your mileage may vary. Right now I am using 2 613mg capsules with each meal, and have not had over a K5 in weeks other than when I miss a couple of dosages. Then it is duck and run for cover for a couple of days. PM me if you would like my source.
