Title: Emotional freedom technique- EFT
Post by Satbir on Nov 9th, 2009 at 4:20am
Has anyone tried EFT for cluster headache. I have read some articles on EFT benefiting the Migraine patients. EFT works on the concept that most of the diseases stem from unresolved issues and letting the negative emotions go frees us from the suffering.
Here is the link START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE.  I was wondering if this can be of any use to Cluster headache.

No offense but I think i'll pass.  If you wish to cut and paste the relevant information for people here to read without trying to get a free ad for that website, maybe it will be worth the read.

Until then, doesn't this seem too "come to my website"?

For a simple minded person like me, this kinda smells like snake oil.

I have an ex-wife who talked like that. She kinda smelled like snake oil too........

I see it more as a bearing pain when relaxed not irritated/annoyed is easier than being stressed out, angry, threatened and living in fear. I guess I am partialy right at least?

So what about the 4 year old cluster patient?  All their unresolved playground issues and pent up child emotions causing them pain, too?

Sounds alot like Scientology to me: A load of crap.

BULLSHIT!

Someone always wants to take your money. It's bullshit. CH is a medical condition, no fucking spiritual mumbojumbo will help you out. If you need help learning how to manage you pain - thats ok. But don't believe its anything but pain management. Anyone tell you its "pent up anger", " childhood trauma", "worries","anxiousness" or whatnot - you say "FUCK YOU" and walk away. I have done it - and will continue to do it. It is not rooted in your concious self whatever they tell you

I think this thread is emotional freedom at work!

Seriously,

Satbir, we are very protective of our members here. Those that post and sometimes even more so, those that don't.

When someone comes along and their first post is like this we tend to dismiss them out of hand as snake oil salesmen. Rightly too. We get very antsy with people who try and make money out of our pain.

You've been a member here since July of this year. You've made a total of seventeen posts, four of which you deleted yourself so effectively there are thirteen posts we can go back and read for you.

Only the two most recent posts are related to this EFT so I would give you then benefit of the doubt and say you're asking a genuine question.

Please don't be offended by people being dismissive. We do it for your safety as much as ours.

There isn't a placebo effect with CH sadly. Trying to "think" the pain away ain't gonna cut it! I wouldn't recommend this to anyone as a serious attempt at treating CH but then again, a positive attitude can and WILL help you coping in general.
You can get that without paying through the nose for it and just being here, with fellow sufferers will give you more coping skills than anything else ever can.

I hope this helps you and anyone else reading along

Helen

Amm... now wait a second... There are plenty of us in this old world that don't view the physical body as a biological robot, drugs in one end and results out the other...
I have tried EFT --and it didn't seem to work-- but that doesn't mean I will abandon my faith in the power of prayer, or the possibility of placebo effects, or call people who consider psychosomatic reactions idiots.
Take Doctor John Sarno, an old MD who has studied pain for decades. He uses the modern concept, "the mind-body connection," to show what he has found when people come in complaining about pain and his medical tests show nothing in the physical.
In fact his theory says that often pain comes from the body pulling OXYGEN out of an area because the mind or spirit is in great turmoil. Extreme perfectionism, rage, or revolving childhood traumas can cause this "biopsychosocial" confusion.
I have been thinking how to respond here. And I don't own a computer so I hope this won't descend into some sort of argument about who is on the right turf and I have to run to the library to defend my position. At least read the John Sarno stuff before reacting...

satbir,

I wasn't able to access the link you gave us and apparently neither were many others.   I'd like to make a suggestion above and beyond what others here have said.   Look to the left of where you are reading this right now.  There are links.  The very first one in yellow says "new Vistitors"   Click on it.  If you are looking to sell something around here...LOL oh,  boy have you come to the wrong place.   ;D

I don't believe in Freud or any of the psychoanylitical BS being floated around blaming everything happening to us on our parents, our Oedipus complex, what happened to scar us as a fetus, or post fetus, or on a playground, etc.  EFT from all I understand of it smells to me of the night droppings of a very large well fed male ox.

If you want to do something like that for pain management, MAYBE some of it will help, but not very effectively.

On the other hand, I have used some of the things I learned in La Maze classes with Linda (after 5 times I think I got it down) that do work.  The principle of focusing one's attention on something other than the pain going on in one's body CAN be helpful, but is not something easy to do, nor is it totally effective.  If it all one has, use it, but personally I much prefer to grab my O2 than to contemplate my navel or something while dealing with a K7 or higher.

My $.02
