Title: I'm new to this site... but not the pain Post by raymondwhitson on Nov 12th, 2009 at 7:23pm
Hello,
My name is Raymond. I live in Northern Kentucky and have suffered from CH's for 23 years (since i was 3) it took years to come to terms with it, and took even longer to get a real diagnosis. For a long time i thought it was just a curse or that i was some kind of psychotic episode waiting to happen. I can't remember how many times i almost wound up in a tower with a high powered rifle (just a joke kids) I've very recently lost all faith in modern medicine. I was wondering if anyone had tried the chinese herb blend that's being sold online. I'd love to know if they work. any feed back would be helpful. |

Well personally I couldn't blame you one iota for that. From what I've seen so far, it's just one person after another streaming in here, having been treated ineffectively by ignoramus MDs. That O2 will probably do you good though. Hopefully you've hit the "oxygen info" button on the left (hopefully the buttons show up in your view). A non modern medicine preventative you could look into if you're so inclined would be Rivea Corymbosa seeds. There are known scientific reasons behind why they would work, and some folks here report knocking out cycles with them. One more herb discussed aplenty here, and used by some, is Kudzu. I believe chinese herb blends to be powerful and effective medicines for some things, but FWIW I don't tend to think of them as being so hopeful for CH, just because I've never seen anyone here report success with them. Come to think of it though, I don't recall if anyone has reported trying them (???). Man, Ch since you were 3? That's horrific, truly horrific. :-? How about letting us know what treatments/meds you've tried? |

Hi Raymond
I'm so sorry you're here for CH but I'm so very glad you found us too. It's taken me a while to respond, your post really hit me hard. My son was diagnosed at the age of three (he is now eight.) I know you were joking but reading about your age and then about the high powered rifle bit was devastating for me. I am going to try so hard to make damn sure my son never feels like that. I can't bear it. What meds have you tried? What combinations? Have you tried Oxygen? Are you episodic or chronic? Tell us a bit more about you and your CH pattern and lets see if we can't learn from each other! Helen |

Please...reconsider...you just have to find the "right"one...ask Cat! Ask me...I found a one too... after years of the wrong one.....you HAVE to be your own best advocate.... CH is basically unknown to most docs....there is noone so lame as an expert out of their field. I have taken my share of shots at ignorant physicians. Will continue to for those afraid, arrogant, or stupid enough to reject LEARNING...but it don't mean they are all like that. Right now, I am relying on an oncologist for my LIFE...a urologist for maybe the same...a neurologist for my mobility...and a GP for other issues....please, reconsider.... Best, Jon BTW...welcome aboard....grab an oar and row...aint no passengers on this tub... |

Hi Raymond & Welcome to Clusterville
By all means get some oxygen NOW! I works for 70%+ of us to abort attacks if used early-on in the attack. There are other abortives that DO work like Imitrex (I can't use . . artery blockage and high cholesterol), which works in minutes. There are preventatives that can reduce the frequency/intensity of attacks . . . all have been used by members of this board and the info regarding same is readily available to you to gather and help inform your doc if you can't find one that understands CH. The Chinese herbs might well contain kudzu . . . used for centuries by the Chinese to treat migraines and found to be beneficial to many sufferers of CH. You have MUCH reading to do . . . but you've found the motherlode of CH info/caring/sharing . . . and we truly understand your pain. Welcome Home Be Safe, PFDANs Richard |
