Title: JONBOY-need a chuckle??
Post by Cathi_Pierce on Nov 22nd, 2009 at 11:27pm
So, anyone who knows me knows my affection for my cats..today......... not so much!
I visited my Mother's old Senior residence recently and, in the course of conversation with these elderly people I have come to love, one of them asked me if I could take her Christmas shopping. They have a van and scheduled shopping trips, but they don't go to REAL gift-type businesses. We talked about a special shopping trip to the mall, and that sounded horrid. Weather is nasty.....and on and on.......long story short, I ended up contacting a gift shop in town to ask them if I could inventory a collection of their goodies and take them over for a shopping day at Berry Park( the senior residence). She turned me down FLAT!
I am now in the process of gathering giftie-items, creating baskets and such, for our OWN boutique there, and since I am so late in doing, I am a one man band.....
I made a collection of  potpourri holders, got some rose hips, lavendar and several other natural 'flavors' and stuffed them the other day. Inadvertently, one of the lavendar sachets got left out, and while I was gone yesterday, I got a call from Gil, wondering if I knew where the cats were........." Apparently, Imp found the sachet, tore it apart and proceeded to shake out enough for herself and Camry to play in. Seems they thought it was catnip! They rolled and drooled in it for hours, apparently, but, by the time I got home, all I found were two cats covered in lavendar, zonked out on the floor-sleeping off their high.
Now, ALL the potpourri gifts are safely packed in bins...and my poor cats are still looking all over the house for their "catnip"!
I figure if I vacuum 50-60 more times, I'll finally have all the remains of their party cleaned up.........I wonder how well the vacuum handles drool?
If lavendar is one of your triggers...I'm sorry..... now is NOT the time to come see us..........
Anywhooo, it's coming, so let me be the first to say
Merry Christmas to all and to all.........I hope you find YOUR catnip!
Cathi :D :D

Now that is funny.  Sounds like something the gang of 5 (4 cats and one dog) would do here.  I might have to test that out though when they are ripping and running like wild animals (think Bungle in the Jungle with 4 cats and one dog).

That story is just so "you."

Between opening your heart and spending countless hours for the folks at the home and your cats having at the project......

Hopefully Gil likes lavender - a lot! Have a great Thanksgiving, Cathi.

OMG! Carolyn! You're right! It could've been soo much worse! Thinking, it was just 2 yrs ago, we had 5 cats running.err, sharing our home....it would have been a complete overthrow of the household government!
As I type, Imp is sitting in my lap, still covered in the still fragrant-and slightly soggy lavendar!
Marc, I'm afraid Gil is partial to more manly scents.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Good one Cathi...good timing too...yup, I needed it. I SO miss having cats....they think that they're so smart that you're not smart enough to know that they love you...knuckleheaded fuzzbutts....aint foolin' me. But, cat drool?...ewwwww....

And what a delightful, warm hearted, labor of love for the seniors. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy myself. Thank you. May I contribute in some way somehow...hmmm...hmmm?

Best,

jb
