Hi

I have heard that many CH suffers also have SAD. Is it true?

Can't speak for "many other" CH sufferers, but for me: Nope

For those who weren't able to decipher, SAD means Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Not me, per se, but it sure does suck when it's dark going to work and dark coming home.

It wouldn't be shocking since many of us have cycles based on or timed by seasonal changes, plus many suffer from forms of depression as well.

Whenever you hear about such a linking of two conditions the issue is always the same: One doesn't cause the other--unless there has been some research to show a functional relationship.

Depression is commonly associated with many kinds of disorders, especially chronic ones, but it doesn't mean that one caused the other.

Absolutely.  Especially when one is common and the other is rare.

I lived in cloudy Seattle for 10 years after growing up in Southern California.

Still, I was the lucky type that didn't experience any SAD.

Hi,

Can't answer the question...but I do live in Seattle...before that an area in Alaska that could be described as a "rainy" Seattle. My brother couldn't stand "the skinny gray rain" and moved to CA. While I could be called sad...I aint SAD...rain don't bother me...ch does...

Best,

Jon

I think that clusters "triggers" and treatments vary so much from one sufferer to the next...it would be difficult to say that most of us also suffer from SAD.  BUt, SAD does involve the body's internal clock and hormone production, and melatonin,  all the same things affected with clusters.

I'll try a light box if it helps!!
