Some folks use melatonin, 9-12mg, at night to ward off night attacks. Some wil report their response, I'm sure.

An old migraine trick which is useful is, 1mg SL, ergotamine, about one-hour before bed.

Hi Katie-
When were you diagnosed with clusters?  What do you use as a preventative and abortive?

You need to see a Doctor.

Havent seen a doc yet, no money or insurance. I use melatonin and night rest with melatonin for sleep and sometimes use sleepy time celestial teas, each help me fall asleep, but dont keep me asleep. For headaches, I drink cold water and take tylenol that dulls it for a few minutes and after that its like i never took tylenol at all. My cluster headaches each one stays for anywhere between a half an hour to 2 hours  the time period  between each attack is various, i generally have 5 to 6 everyday.

What is Ergotamine? Can I buy this over counter?

The point they're trying to make is that you might not have cluster headaches. Self diagnosis doesn't count. The reason you need to see a doctor (a headache specialist or a neurologist) is so they can rule out anything more nefarious - stuff that might kill you. CH won't.
