Title: Howdy Chicklets... Post by peep_nugget on Dec 7th, 2009 at 5:13pm
Hi -
I've been a member since 2006, but I don't post much. I just thought I'd reach out as I am in the middle of my first cluster episode in 2 years. Just when you think you're home-free - WHAM! I was diagnosed with CH in the early 80's (my doc was apparently on the ball), but I've never been able to predict when my cycle is going to start... sometimes meds work, sometimes they don't. I started a Verap/Paxil course of treatment in 2000, and it worked to knock me out of a particularly vicious 3 month cycle, but has since ceased its efficacy. Sometimes Os work, sometimes they don't. I haven't used them in a while, but I ordered a tank today, and hopefully it'll be the magic bullet this cycle. I've been upfront with my employer, but what really worries me is that this has a real and profound impact on my life. My employer is great, I am fortunate to have awesome benefits (including O2 coverage, tons of sick time accumulated, plus long/short term disability) but the unpredictable nature of this beast is what truly drives me crazy. I have an amazing spouse who wants nothing more than to help me and is spectacularly supportive. The daily grind of pain is slowly wearing me down... Just thought I'd reach out. Thanks for being here. [smiley=pokeeye.gif] This is a good smiley - too bad they don't have a smiley digging around with a screw driver! PS this is my Labrador (Aida) who stares at me just like this when I'm layin on the floor, eye weeping and snot rolling down my face. ![]() |

Glad you reached out again. Sometimes it helps to post, sometimes just to read. Whatever you're comfortable with.

There are really no rules. If you are one of us, you deserve to be here.
I am sorry that you are in this situation again. All we can hope for is that when the beast leaves us it is for good but that is not always the case. Hang in there, the sun will shine again. Hugs Jazz |

I'm sorry the headaches found you again. They seem to be better detectives than we are! I LOVE your dog! I am currently looking at Lab and a Vizsla pups to replace a precious Golden Retriever and accompany my 12 year old Golden/Lab mix. I know exactly what you mean about them staring at you. I have been told that my dog does that when I sleep as well.
Good luck! Joni |

Hi Joni -
I have an 11 year old golden/lab mix, too! He's my first dog (as an adult) and my best bud. He tends to lay beside me when I'm not well, but my Lab will stand over me, just watching. Without mah dawgs I'd be a mess. |
