Title: Another newbie!
Post by txwizard on Dec 9th, 2009 at 9:48pm
I've been dealing with these "headaches" for about 4 years and this past summer while delivering mail (i'm a mail man) i got the worst of the worst! I called my supervisor to pick me up because i could no longer take it. I sat in my mail car grinding my knuckles to the right side of my head. I could no longer take the pain and the 100 degree heat outside I laid on the grass waiting for someone to help me. I was taken to the ER and was then told I was probly suffering from CH. It sucked going back to work because everyone immediately thought it was because of the heat, but as you all know a little heat outside is nothing compared to that vein on the side of your head bulging and pulsing creating the worst pain known to man. It's nice to know there is a place where others know what your dealing with.

Welcome to the board, let's get you set up so you're not just riding the beast wave...that sucks! :'(

What medications does your doctor have you on? Are you taking a daily prevent medication, verapamil, lithium, topomax?? The idea being to reduce the number and intensity of your hits.

What abortive meds do you have? Oxygen? Should be your first line abortive. read the oxygen info tab on the left, 31 years of CH and I can abort the beast in under 10 minutes using just oxygen. Absolute miracle abortive for me and for many.

Let us know what you've used maybe we can tweak your regimen and alleviate some of your pain. Damned glad you found us, hoping we can help you.

Joe

My life changed when I discovered using oxygen to abort my attacks. I have a giant tank in my garage at home and several smaller (one tiny) tanks to go portable.

Welcome "Mailman"!
Where I live is so small there is no delivered mail.  We all go to the post office.  It's kinda a social thing too.  I envy the mailboxes I see the rest of the civilized world has...walk out, pick up, walk back.  Cool.

People not understanding the condition or disease of CH is universal here.  We all have our stories.  You have come to the right place, for you are surrounded by expert patients and we ALL understand you.

Like Joe said, please share your rx's or lack there of, and how life has been for you.

Lot's of eager eyes and responding fingers..

Angela
