Does this work for ch?
it's hard to find a supplier here for renting an O2 tank/25 plm but today it was suggested from one of them to rent this machine at home.
has anyone tried this?should i give it a try?

You will find that oxygen concentrators will fall short of our needs. Their output is typically about 90% pure O2 typically at up to 5 lpm. Some can produce more flow, but as the flow goes up, the concentration of O2 goes down toward 50%.

Because they were designed for COPD type users in mind, this characteristic is perfectly acceptable, but not for our needs.

There are some highly specialized units that can produce high flow at 90+%, but they are extremely expensive and not generally available for home use.

Another problem with all concentrators is that they require several minutes after being turned on to begin producing a high concentration of O2.

I suppose you could daisy-chain three 8 lpm concentrators together, and they'd still only put out at 80-90% O2. You'd also have to wear ear plugs.

I've always felt that running concentrators in parallel would actually work except for the start up time delay.

I go from pain free to agony in about 5-7 minutes, so any delay allows the hit to get out of control making it very hard to kill.

All of you know how I feel about O2, but all of my wonderful success is based on speed!

I actually had an O2 concentrator for about 8 yrs.  As others said it only produces about 90% O2, but the one I had was 10lpm and ramped up rather quickly.  However I attended the OUCH Convention in Dallas a couple of years ago and was introduced to the O2 tanks and further the demand value.  I cannot say I am completely off triptans because on occassions if in the middle of the night if awakened with a 7kip I just can't always abort with O2 alone, but I can say I am about 95% abortive using the O2 tanks.  I have them at my office and home and like the American Express Card I don't leave home without one.  Usually like most I sense the demon coming and I jump on the O2 and if the the kip is 5 or below I can in 80% of the hits abort in 5-7 minutes (down a Red Bull if a home of office immediately before getting breathing).  Fortunately I have no problem getting Medical O2 but if I were you I would get welders O2 and have someone advise you how to adapt.  As I said earlier in this Post I did have a concentrator for years and it did work (well I think it did), but even on a 5-6 kip hit it could take 20 minutes to abort and on a higher hit I always had to have triptan.  I was buying them from my prescription and then elsewhere as well.  Good luck.  Wishbone.

Sleeping with low level O2 has been reported to have no effect by many people, many times. I've only tried it for two nights in a row out of desperation and it didn't help one bit.

i tried o2 at 2 lpm. seems like i had an hour or 2 of sleep. still woke up to an attack though

Hey, if it works - go for it!

I had one that went up to 15lpm and it worked well for me - usually got rid of the headache in 10-15 min (my headaches last 1-3 hours so I'll take 15 min any day). 

Out of full disclosure O2 was not my primary treatment option.  I was on preventatives and only used O2 when I was at home and a headache got through the first line of defense.  I understand that a concentrator may not work as well as O2 tanks, but if there's one thing we've all learned is that there is no silver bullet that works for all of us so if it's an option for you that's easier to acquire than tanks I say give it a shot.
