hi Rich here im very scared about seeing manjit matharu in london on wednesday he left me in pain last year turned me away for 8 weeks ended up i had to get a friend to go back with me to lay it on the line but i cant get anyone to go with me this time even though ive got money to pay for there travel wat should i do? :'(

Pretty simple: find another doctor.

First and foremost, doctors are supposed to do no harm. It's part of their oath.

I got nothing else for you, brother. Either find a doctor that doesn't scare the living shit out of you or maybe ask him for some valium to take an hour or so before you go in.

Firstly to mention, I don't think there is any insinuation of you having migraines.  How would anyone know from your few posts this thread describing no symptoms.

The links posted by Bob have the word migraine attached to clinic, the first sentence from the site says: The City of London Migraine Clinic is a research centre and outpatient service for people with migraine and other headaches.

Personally, I was glad to find a hospital extension nearby called, Chronic Headache and Migraine Institute, where I received improved treatment for clusters, which was not a long-suit there but straight forward and knowledgeable about them.  I certainly wasn't their first cluster patient.  Helpful preventatives and abortives were prescribed without question.

Why scared about seeing him?  Why turned away?  What has entailed concluding a block? What does "lay it on the line" mean?  Why a friend to go with you.

To Americans you are speaking a different language... Mostly I have no idea what you mean.

Do you have 02? Since Oct I have been getting hits 3 times a day. I don't like it much, but then I am as stuck as you are.

We don't get socialized medicines, or anything a month as I assume you are some how disabled. Just sayin..

I am curious too about the other questions.. Why fear a doctor?

As I see the situation:

- Matharu is well known/regarded as a CH advocate. (I'm in the USA but I have spoken with him)
- You seem to be fixated on the block.
- If he doesn't feel that you should have it right now, you have no choice. Work with him to find another plan
- Don't accept 8 weeks for a follow up if you need it sooner
- The man knows what he is doing - why the extreme fear?

You can't necessarily provide a justification for fear.  If the guy is scared, he's scared - there doesn't have to be a reason for it that anyone else can understand. Bad enough to be scared without being asked to explain it.
Maybe the doctor concerned has an unfortunate manner. Maybe he's high-handed and dismissive.  Maybe this, maybe that.   The point is, there's obviously a personality clash between doctor and patient, and where there's fear there can't be trust.
So I think the thing to do is find a different doctor. The migraine clinic sounds like a sensible option, specially if you print up a few info sheets from this site and take them along when you go.

Why a block as there are many other potentially usefull and less invasive medications.
Perhaps the good doctor has something more promising for you Rich.
One kiss dont make a marriage.

There are many other docs in this world and to get good care you must care for the doctor as well.
Your comfort should be first and if this doc no matter how technically able doesnt provide it, find another.

I know Manjit Matharu.
I have seen him work through lunch hours and until 8pm at night and later to help ch'ers.
I KNOW OUCH UK will still help you even if you can't afford to pay the membership fee.

I have watched you make post after post disparaging Dr Matharu and it's unfair and uncalled for.

I am quite certain, if there is anything in your allegations at all, that there is a HELL of a lot more than you are telling us.

You've moved out of the area to another health authority half way across the country and yet they have moved heaven and earth to find an appointment for you.
An appointment that I will add is taking time from someone who DOES live in that catchment area.

They've fitted you in, with less than a weeks notice, at the busiest hospital for neurology in the country with the now leading man in the UK for headache.

Tell me again where you're so hard done by??
