Title: Morphing... Post by Rivkid73 on Dec 14th, 2009 at 6:29pm
It's doing it again-changing. I've only had a few hits over the last 2 weeks(nothing over a kip3), and then today comes along. Started out like a normal day, but then around 2PM, a shadow came on-little bit worse than the usual, but not unbearable(felt like someone slapping me in the temple with their palm). And then I got a short shadow on the right side.
WTF? I'm a lefty-and have been since day one. It's the same exact throb that I normally get, just on the opposite side. And it's not 'sliding' to the right side, there are 2 distinct HA's going on at the same time. Has anyone ever had this happen? I can't imagine anything over a kip5 on both sides at once-half a head in pain is bad enough. I thought the cycle was ending, but it looks like it's just round 2. I'm going to order the seeds later, and I go back to the neuro on the 6th and I have 3 and a half Trixamet left..... :-/ |

4 years ago I have the CH pattern switch sides... a total switch nearing the end of the cycle. I am not sure that this is what you are saying, bit it is a close to that as I have ever been..
I was born left handed and switched in school; my Ch is usually on the right side only. |
Title: Re: Morphing... Post by Rivkid73 on Dec 14th, 2009 at 8:38pm
Well, hopefully it'll switch fast if that's what's going on-I'll go crazy if it stays in both sides at once for very long.
Normally my right side is PF-even when I had k10's in the middle of the night(before I went to the doc this cycle). But before dinner, I had a k3 on my normal side(left), and a shadow on my right. And the waves were crashing at different intervals. Right now the right one is barely noticeable and the left one is just above an annoying level. And I've actually been off ALL meds for the last 9 days-no trixamet, no homeopathic, no prednisone as I have been searching for busting materials. |

That has to be a royal pain... When mine switched sides i thought i was ready for a break, but the swap was hard to get used too. Do you have o2, and if so does it help for this condition? I would be learning and not helping in this instance. All I can share is right now I have a shadow, which is light for the moment. It is likely to subside, but come back in some hours before or at mid night. I am not ready to do what you are going thru right now... Not that anyone gets much choice. |

Mine switched sides once. I had my full 8 week cycle and was on Prednisone and tpaered off. One month after the cycle, I started a new cycle on the other side that also was a typical full 8 week cycle. That has only happened that one time and it was also the last time I took Predisone.

I have used trex injections 5 times exactly. I found any time I did I got hit harder and more often. The first time I used it I shot the entire 6mg's, which was a big mistake. Since then I swore off all drug meds having anything to do with ch. This leaves me with 02 working, as Red Bull and or coffee don't seem to do a thing for me. My switch was in mid cycle. I think this is happening to Rivkid73. I am 'so sure' you were pleased to have a swap sided return after the normal cycle. :-[ |

No, I do not have o2, but I plan on asking for a script on the 6th when I go back. I'm not even sure if my insurance will cover it, but I'll do what I have to. I took 1/2 a trixamet @ dinner and slammed a monster which finally killed the shadow on the right side. Left side is down to the usual (intermittent) shadows I get at night and hopefully won't flare up @ 2AM like they did a couple weeks ago. An odd fact that I just realized-I can clearly feel my pulse in my right temple(normal non-ch side), but not the left. My temple is slightly swollen which could account for the 'dulled' pulse, but IDK. |

I can only imagine.... :( This cycle would probably end if the weather would stay cold. We had a weeks worth of winter and I thought that it was ending...then it warmed back up this week, and I get hit again. >:( |

Bless your heart. My cycles do not last longer due to weather, or so far anything else...8 weeks like clock work, but I can be hit more often during my cycle by weather or allergens, and of course med changes. Hang in there! |
Title: Re: Morphing... Post by Rivkid73 on Dec 16th, 2009 at 5:58pm
I can't remember a time when I was in cycle during the winter-I've always been done by Christmas. I'm not sure I'm going to be so lucky this year.
3 days running, from about noon on. I put off my order of seeds until I can detox again. And I absolutely cannot believe that I can't find any other busting 'tools' anywhere. The left doesn't flare up until about 5:30. I've tried 1/2 a trixamet for the last 2 days(mon and tue), tonight I may need a whole one. Jan 6th is soooooo far away! I've been managing by tightening my hat about 3/4" until my scalp goes numb but it doesn't make it go away. :-/ |
Title: Re: Morphing... Post by Joni on Dec 16th, 2009 at 7:47pm
So has it completely changed sides now?
|
Title: Re: Morphing... Post by Rivkid73 on Dec 16th, 2009 at 7:50pm
Nope....I think it's playing with me. It wants me to completely lose my mind.
:D |

I'm so sorry! It does like to play!

Title: Re: Morphing... Post by Mac_Muz on Dec 17th, 2009 at 3:15pm
Rivkid73 I am assuming you use pills, but how do you manage that. Maybe I am reading wrong.
"I took 1/2 a trixamet @ dinner and slammed a monster which finally killed the shadow on the right side." I tried trex pills once, and the CH was long gone before I knew the pill was working. Back then I would hit a kip 10 in a heartbeat, and was willing to try lesser to stronger in order. The injection as I saw it was stronger, just because it was more invasive. Then I found the injection, once I figured my dosage just aborted the CH, but the rebound was hell. Since I got on welders o2 the problems are far less so long as I act quickly, and if I don't I suffer longer, but still the o2 works. What I don't know is you are semi or so chronic, and getting hits on both sides, albeit different. So I don't know if o2 will help at all or it may take care of both sides at once. I might almost bet o2 will take care of both sides at once and not have after effects.. If I were you I would get o2 asap and get on with learning how to use it in your special case. It sure won't hurt you. If you have anyone who welds with gas, brazes and the like see him and try his o2. That would be anyone who works on cars, has a shop well equipted. All you need to do is remove what ever tirch head is on the handle, make sure the acetelene tank is OFF at the bottle, the red hose knob on the handel os off, Turn on the larger green tank, turn on the green knob at the handle, feel gas flow, set the regulator to 10 to 20 psi, and breath a while. Breath out as far as you can and place the grip almost to your lips and inhale deep. Hold your breath they say 30 seconds, but I just do 10. Sometimes I exhale thru my nose if it isn't spilling out goo. Once the pain stops , stay breathing. Also between breaths turn the grip knob off lightly.. No welder wants his rig turned off very hard.. When the knob stops the valve is closed off. It isn't a kitchen sink fawcett. Be gentle. This may beat waiting for a doc and a script, and you may learn if this is worthy of more time.. My welding bottle is all I need.. Any garage man would be willing to take 10 bucks for this if you don't know him very well. If you were near by I would let you do it free. |

RivKid, thanks for letting me know i'm not crazy. My ch is on the right, always has been until this cycle. Keep getting little shadows, temple pulsing and tiny "regular" headaches on the left. Haven't mentioned it to anyone in my family or friends that are familiar with my condition because I refuse to believe it myself. It's annoying. It keeps happening in the very beginning of a shadow or just on its own. When I'm by myself, I sit up on the couch and say "are you f*** serious right now?

Yes, right now all I have are pills. I haven't been able to find anyone with o2 tanks that I could try-my only hope is either the neuro on the 6th, or get a mask and rent my own bottle after Christmas. |

You're not crazy. That's been my reaction for the last few days. I'm already losing my mind, but this is crazy. It's still early yet, but my right side is clear, but I've had a shadow on my left for a few hours now. |

Title: Re: Morphing... Post by Mac_Muz on Dec 17th, 2009 at 9:00pm
Rivkid, Don't wait any longer than you want to put up with pain.
Any fool can go buy a set of torches with regulators and rent/lease/buy bottles.. You can only buy smaller bottle sets, and rent lease much bigger ones in the USA.. With you name I can't guess if you are in the USA, or in northern Euro. Seems like a mix of scandinavian name to me. As I said pills to me take way too long, unless you are sure the ch is coming and exatly when. Are you saying the 6th of January? If so that's nuts! Your choice but I'ld be buying a set of torches tomorrow and renting a tank. The bad part is you will buy some equipment you have no need for, as all you want is the tank, o2 in a bottle the regulator fits and the torch handle. Don't bother with the actelene tank at all, but you still must buy the regulator for that side and the dual hose. If later you go with medical equipment you can sell what you bought. I sure wouldn't be waiting around, when you can kill a CH in 5 minutes. That would be the main part of the pain reduced to 5 minutes or so. There will be more time used in breathing, but that won't hurt. Any auto parts store has torch sets.. These might be just over 200 bucks USD. Then you take then to a welders supply house, the auto parts store tells you where it is. You can say there what ever you want, but leave with o2 in a bottle that had any adpapters to the bottle... Or you can hang out and hope some doctor will write you up... sometime. What you do depends on you and what you want, but I'kd be getting on it in the morning. Why if you do you might get to enjoy X-Mass. DUH: oHIo :'( |

Nope, lots of lower cost O2 welding regulators available as a single. Some already with a barbed fitting on the outlet and no hose kit to save money. Just thought I'd mention it.............. Marc |
Title: Re: Morphing... Post by Mac_Muz on Dec 18th, 2009 at 11:31am
Marc, By all means.. I am unaware of everything there is... I was a foreign car tech long before I knew what CH was. Since I owned my torches and lease my bottles, that was as far as I went getting o2.
I have another rig, as you probably know for silver soldering, but is similar. All I really know is that if I can abort a CH with my set up anyone should atleast give it a real hard try. I would assume my way is as close to the most primitive way there is. It works so well for me, that I want to assume it will work as well for anyone who gets serious about o2. Not too sure that is correct for all, but to me it is. |
Title: Re: Morphing... Post by Rivkid73 on Dec 21st, 2009 at 8:20pm
Still changing. I think the Trixamet ticked it off, royally. I'm leaning toward some sort of rebound HA at this time.
Today it hit hard and fast(what I not so affectionately call a tweaker). Not fun. But luckily it was short. |
Title: Re: Morphing... Post by Mac_Muz on Dec 22nd, 2009 at 6:11pm
This is why I use o2, and nothing but o2. Most any drug i ever tried caused re-bound hell.
O2 does not... for me anyway... |

Rebound headaches occur with prolonged usage of analgesics, not occasional use of Triptans. But, after many years of trying all of the Triptans many, many times: For me (and maybe me only) Imitrex which is in Treximet causes me to have more hits. Of this I am quite sure. Marc |
Title: Re: Morphing... Post by Mac_Muz on Dec 22nd, 2009 at 6:22pm
Injected trex will bring on re-bound to hell me. Just sayin.. And extend my weeks.

I was on the imitrex before the trixamet. The rebounds were worse than any of the regular CH's I've ever had. I actually passed out a few times during the worst one. Maybe the rebounds(if thats what is going on) are mild with the trixamet due to the aleve in it. It could still be changing. I haven't taken any Rx meds for 9 days as I'm prepping to bust(soon as my cajones drop) and I actually had 2 PF days, but now they've come back. Keeping at a k3 or below(tonight's the worse one)... The unpredictability truly sucks. It drives me insane sometimes, and I don't have far to go. ;) |
Title: Re: Morphing... Post by catlind on Dec 31st, 2009 at 2:47pm
I don't think it's true for everyone who uses trex, but for me, trex took my episodic CH and took away the clockwork hits, and made the hits far more frequent and far more intense. Dr. Tepper from the New England Center for Headache even wrote in the letter of evaluation that he was of the opinion that trex was the cause of my turning chronic.
At the time, I didn't care, I just had to do another shot and the pain was gone. However, I have a cardiac condition, coronary artery spasms, and found myself hospitalized 3 times because of cardiac related issues - I didn't care about the chance I was taking using trex, figuring that was better than a bullet to the brains; The cardiologist explained to me that I wouldn't have a heart attack, I would go into full arterial spasm and have a massive coronary and drop dead if I didn't stop the trex. I stopped, since I couldn't get it prescribed any more, and those following weeks were hell. The use of trex made things much much worse, and I wouldn't want to go through the post triptan phase of CH again... I hope you can find an answer to the side switching. But you most definitely want to get O2 as soon as you possibly can. It works extremely well with the busting efforts - or so I've heard ;) Cat |
Title: Re: Morphing... Post by Kim D on Dec 31st, 2009 at 2:55pm
I'm episodic, and every episode is the opposite side. I've had 6 episodes now, and 3 have been on the left and 3 on the right... but I've never experienced it changing sides in a cycle.
I do know that I get sharp pains on both sides and sometimes feel shadows on both sides, but when the real CH comes its just on the one side. I hope you figure it out. :-? |

Suffered from CH for 13 years when Migraines turned nasty into CH. Tried O2 - releaves the pain but doesn't break the cycle/hit. Lived on Imigrain injection, nasal spray and tablets during cycles, 2 x /yr. Used Morphine, Pethidine, Cortisone, O2, Block (injection administered at base of skull), Calcium Blockers, Beta Blockers, head banging etc. none could break the cycle.
OUT OF UTTER DESPERATION I ONE DAY TOOK OMEGA 3 CAPSULES. 3 CAPSULES 3 X/DAY. AFTER DAY 4 THE CYCLE WAS BROKEN AND HAS BEEN FOR THE LAST 21 MONTHS! NOT EVEN A SHADOW IN 21 MONTHS! Conrad V - South Africa |
